How much would you pay for 15 more years of DVC

We aren't going to assume our grown kids will want the burden of DVC maintenance, so we plan to dispose of our contracts when we no longer want to use them. Being that we are already in our 60's, there isn't much chance of us wanting to add on 15 years.

This is exactly why we would do an add-on IF it was designed to increase the value of the membership. Right now... DVC is not depreciating significantly... and is often enjoying modest appreciation... as a result, an extension would not make a lot of sense to most people. However... this obviously cannot continue because at some point the memberships have to worth $0.00. I suspect that in another decade or so... the value of the original resorts will start to decrease because the "remaining life" will be too short to attract new buyers. To counter this... DVC could offer contract extensions. The advantage to them would be to get additional cash for "nearly free" 10-25 years before the contracts expire. The advantage to you as an owner would be the ability to add value to your membership so that you make money when you sell.

Nothing, even though we will still be young enough to go, it is beginning to get old to us now, so I am sure by 2042 we will be ready to say Goodbye to DVC.

I am already ready to go back to deluxe resorts.

If you are the owner of DVC contracts that end in 2042, how much per point would you pay to extend those contracts to 2057?

Lucky owners of SSR and AKV feel free to add your two cents worth! How much was it worth to you to have the longer contract?

I think even if I were 21 today those extra years have little value to me now. They are 36 years in the future, and the present value of those years is minimal.

I don't think I will be willing to pay any more. When my first contacts expire I will be 82. I don't think it will be worth paying for more. (I think that's the age where you quit buying green bannans ) I do have some VAK points that will hold me until I hit my mid 90s.... that should hold me LOL!

Doubt it would even interest me to extend those contracts for just continuing to pay the maintenance fees. I will be 86 when they expire in 2042. Doubtful that I will be traveling much then. It would need to be a decision my daughters make.

We bought AKV for priority booking there, not the extra years.

The responses on this thread that simply illustrate a point I've made on other threads. That is, Disney would have to have the price pretty cheap to get many people to bite. It is my impression and that they would need 70 to 80 percent of owners to participate to make this a workable venture.

While I would be too old to get value, my children might not. I'm willing to gamble on a long-term value if the price is right to regardless of my age. That price would have to be in the range of five dollars per point currently.

I keep hearing everywhere that "40 is the new 20" and that people are living well into their 80s and 90s these days. In 50 years I suspect "70 will be the new 40" so by that measure I will actually be younger at the end of my contract than I am today

I'd be 113 years old when it expired.....

After all, you could extend the points and then will them to me -- in 2057 I'll be a spry 101 year old.

I think the resorts will need major upgrading by then. It depends what maintenance fees are vs how I feel then. I really think I am going to buy the new DVC's from now on, but that is me. I plan on willing each one to my 3 children, but one really doesn't like to go that much. A lot to think about. I really don't think we will be made the offer.
