So, in between my trips to the restroom, I'm wondering how much water everyone here drinks...I've heard so many different recommendations, is there a set benchmark?

:boat:

I once read here that you should take your weight, divide it in half, and that's how many ounces of water you should drink every day :) I would drink a minimum of 60 oz, and actually strive for closer to 100 oz per day. When I am at work, I find this very easy to do, and I surprisingly don't spend all my time in the ladies room. If I am at home, I sometimes forget  because I don't have that disney mug of water sitting beside me all day.

I'm with Mary Liz. :) A minimum of 64 oz but closer to 100 would be better.

The formula I heard was 64 oz plus another 8 oz for each 25 lbs you are overweight.

I've heard both formulas. I try to drink at least 64 oz. of water per day.

I like Maryliz's formula, because it's really easy to remember. :D

But there probably is a maximum amount that is practical... It's hard to imagine anyone drinking more than 90 or 100 ounces of water a day, regardless of their size!

I think as long as you do 64 ounces per day then you are doing fine. If i took the 2 formulas above to decide how much water i should drink, I would never be able to sleep at night. I forgot and drank 96 ounces the other day and was up 5 times that night. Hell, on the sleep cycle as well as the water bill.

This is what I do so I dont forget......
I line up 4-6 24oz bottles of poland spring sport top bottles everyday.
I started out drinking 6 of those then thought 100 oz would be enough, turns out I would drink four way before the evening then find myself needing more water. lol
LIne em up is an easy way to measure and not forget what you have to do for that day.

Okay i don't ask for much here on wish but this is my big pulpit peeve!!! Drink your water, drink it EVERYDAY. IF you stay consistant with your intake of water after the second week you will not feel the feel to go to the restroom after ever bottle of water. I drink atleast 120-130 or more everyday. My rule of thumb has always been to drink half my body weight so i could get by with 70 oz's a day at this point when i first started i needed 115 or so ouces. See theres a huge motivation for you to loose right there. The closer you get the less you HAVE to drink.LOL I hope you all continue to do well on your water intake i feel it's been the a huge factor in my loss's. And that's a great idea about stacking your bottles so you don't have to think about it during the day just drink. I have 16oz pepsi cups at my house and i keep mine full all evening while i'm at work i don't get there till 10-11 in the morning i grab 3 bottles and take them to my desk when i'm done i grab 2 more and head to the car to run errands and pick up lunch. When i get back i get 3 more bottle to have before i leave to go home at 3 or so. When i get home i keep my cup full! You just have to get into the habit and in a few weeks you'll wonder how you ever did without the water you needed i stay thristy for it.

I agree! Drinking 100 oz. a day is really not that unreasonable. For instance, I drink 1/2 liter with my breakfast before I head out the door in the morning. I drink 1 liter in the morning at my desk, I drink another liter in the afternoon at my desk, then I drink 1 to 1-1/2 liters after I get home. So that's 3-1/2 to 4 liters a day easily. 1 liter = 33 oz, so I'm easily drinking 115 to 132 oz. very easily. Come on people, put down the coffee mugs, put down the diet drinks, and drink up some good clean water.

You'll also find that once you're hydrated you aren't nearly as tired or burned out. I suspect that half of America is dehydrated, as opposed to being sleep deprived.

Drink up!

I drink 6-20 ounce bottles of water a day. I probably should increase that amount. I have a Culligan cooler and use one bottle everyday. Drink the water in the bottle and refill it from the cooler. Then I throw that bottle away and start with a new one the next day. My mother would have fits if she thought I was refilling the same bottle more than one day (nurses can be so picky about germs and stuff ;) )
