How much $ was your vacation?

i go solo and for my upcoming trip it's costing so far;
$ 1653
and for that i get;
7 day standard pool view @ Pop [i splurged on pool view for the holiday :santa:]
6 day park hopper

i hope to get air somewhere around $300 +/- when it comes out,
plus i figure on another $400 for food and whatevers [turkey legs - dole whips - sodas]

2 Adults: 'Spring Sale' April/May 2013
8 Nights at the Caribbean Resort, Preferred Room Upgrade + 5 Park Hopper Pass= $2100 (with tax)
Flights Jet Blue = $400 (NE to FL) (No cost for Parking but $40 Shuttle on the home end) So, $440.
2 Disney Tours: $250 (Total we are both going on both tours)

$100 per day for food (We are not doing the Dinning Plan & are bringing some little snacks with with us, $25 pre-trip and $50 on travel days.) 7 park days x $100 = $700, Travel & Pre-bought Snacks $100 (rounding up) so, $800 estimate

Universal Day: $180 + $50 (rental + parking or taxi/shuttle) So, estimate of $230 for Universal Day.

So, that is about $3800-$4000 rounding up for the trip. It adds up really fast!

We have some other Expenses/Extras such as dog boarding and purchasing items for the trip... shoes, bag, and so forth:
Dog Boarding: 2 doggies x 10 days = $600 ish (depending on extras)
Pre-Shopping: ?? Walking Shoes, Clothes, Disney Stuff, Photos??? $100-$300??

Of course this is not all billed at one time. Over a few months it is not too bad. But I certainly can think of a number of other trips that would cost a lot less! But then I don't think we will go to Disney World for a full week again for a few years. Even if we get hooked it will have to be a shorter trip or once every 5 years!

If you want FRUGAL, read my posts on our Disney trips! :lmao: As I said, our 2 week long trips each year, average about $2K for the entire 2 weeks (family of 5). This year, due to YES tickets changing, I may go just a couple hundred over.

It just goes to show that there are all kinds of vacationing budgets, even on the Budget Board.

My Disney trips are my "cheap" vacations. It costs me even more to spend a week at the Jersey Shore (those vacation condos are expensive!). And if we're going to Europe or the Caribbean, then the cost is 4X to 5X what my Disney budget is.

Yeah,I was just thinking that same thing...:thumbsup2 there are all kinds of budget numbers on this thread,it's very interesting! I say it all depends on what's important to your family, what makes a vacation a 'vacation'...KWIM?
I know last year,my bro planned a trip that crossed with our dates, and we planned some, and met up,and had a blast. But he made me:rotfl: when he said that knowing what he paid vs. what I paid made him sick to his stomach... HE couldn't believe the difference in prices, with some planning...

My trips lately come in at under 3k for two people for 6 nights. When I took my parents and other family that number went way up.This is taking into account what I pay for each DVC point in dues per trip. Its still a steal compared to other vacation spots. I just did a three night trip to a small town and that came to around $1500 when you count admission to things+ hotel. (No car rental-just drove)

I am planning for $4000

2 adult, 2 kids
7nights at Sports/5 days park tickets= $2100
flights $900
food/extras $1000

We are planning the Pirate & Pals Cruise and Pirates League as part of the 'extras'. This is also our first big vacation in 3 years.

I seem to average around $2,500 - $3,000.

Dec 2012, 2 adults, 5 Nights at POFQ, 5 day park hopper with Free Dining came in at $2,600.

Jan 2013, 2 adults, 5 Nights at POFQ, 3 day base tickets, 1 day at Sea World & a trip to Medieval Times came in at $2,700.

We did 6 nights in Dec 2011 with Free Dining at CSR and spent more like $3,500, but we also did La Nouba and the flights were more expensive!

This years trip:

8 nights Bonnet Creek- 1042
8 day hopper with discount via employer- 1350
4 round trip plane tickets- 710
Rental car- 240
food: 1400 (although it will likely be less)
parking: 112
airport parking - 50
Total: 4904

Minus Disney Rewards: 1000

Total is 3904

I remember back in 2005 we did 6 days. 5 nights at Pop with free dining (included apps and tips) with airfare for under 1800.

I know I could cut this a lot if I get rid of some of our dining reservations, which I likely will do!

(I also could of saved a bunch on lodging if I went with another resort with a killer deal, but I love Bonnet Creek so I passed it up!).

I'm very new to the board, but thought I'd share my costs! 2 adults, 4 kids (11, 11, 7, & 6).

7 nights off site =$642 w/ tax @ Buena Vista Suites
5 day YES tickets = $1305 (for all 6 of us)
Driving from MO = $600 in gas (estimate for 2300 miles round trip)
Food = free breakfast at our hotel
Budgeting $1000 for food
Souvenirs = kids all have between $300 - $500 saved from various holidays & birthdays

Guess that makes my grand total $3547

Here is mine:

2 adults, 1 junior, 1 kid

14 nights with free dining at pop standard room $2,226

Gas for car as we are driving $400

Hotels on way there and way back $200

Premium annual passes dvc 3@399 and 1@549. We will also go on another 14 day trip with these. $1,746

Total $4,572 and the tickets can be used again. Not bad

Our last Disney trip this past November, we paid around $12,000 to $14,000. This was for two adults and two kids. I don't have a breakdown of the money spent. We spent a week on the Fantasy and a week at WDW in a vacation home we rented. This included all food, souvenirs, car rental 6 day park hopper ticket for all 4 of us, and parking a WDW.

Like the previous poster, we're from Canada and our trips run around $10K offsite, including flights which run $3-4K. This year we're planning onsite= more $. So far we've gone every 2 years.

We don't do long trips to Disney World anymore but we are planning our first ever DisneyLAND trip and here is our budget:

*Flights - $20 (points from Southwest Visa... if you want to charge the annual fee it is $99... but you do get points for that)
*Hotel - free (we are using our DVC... if you want to count dues/initial cost then it would be about $2000)
* Tickets - free (We have $1600 on Disney Rewards which we will use IF our CM friend doesn't come and get us in the parks)
*Dining - free (see disney rewards points above)
*Other - $300 dog boarding, $56 airport parking, $100-300 for transfers and/or car rental

Gonna be a cheap trip for us!!! The only way we will get a 2nd vacation this year since Hawaii is costing a mint!

Also, if you are very close and driving is no big deal, or if you are spending on airfare.

How big your family is and how many of them are "Disney Adults."

If you have "non-cash resources" - DVC points to use, a relative who can get the CM discount, frequent flyer miles, hotel points, military discounts.

And people do their accounting different ways - a existing non-expiring ticket and DVC points are often counted as "free" in "lets take frugal trip discussions."

At one end you can have a single person who comes down for a week, uses passes from a previous trip, flies in with frequent flyer points, uses hotel points for the Swan, packs in some groceries - and does a trip for a few hundred out of pocket. On the other end you might have a family of seven flying in internationally, staying two weeks, renting a car, eating all their meals sit down and many of them signature and booking a suite or DVC room for cash.

Pick a budget that works for you and craft a trip within that budget.
