We've only bought one house, $35,000 in 2001. It was a good deal. We had been living in it 5 years though and done a lot of labor on improvements for the owner by then.
Our first/starter home was $155,000 in 1998.
Sold it in 2005 for $280,000.
Bought our second/current house in 2005 for $485,000.
Wow - you did great on that first house!
We were in a right place, right time scenario. A couple was relocating and wanted to sell fast, so we bought it well under value.Wow - you did great on that first house!
You are correct! We purchased when prices were definitely rising.Well, the flip side of selling a house for more than you paid is the home you move TO probably appreciated similarly in the same timeframe LOL
