I have a scooter rented for on the ship. We are taking a shuttle from Cocoa Beach to the Port. How much walking is there between where you and your luggage are dropped off, to getting on the ship. Our room is on deck 2 and that where my scooter will be delivered. (Not in my room.) I am just not sure if I want a wheelchair or if I should walk it. I am having total hip replacement the day after I get backform this vacation.

The luggage drop off is immediately in front of the terminal

Once inside the door there's the security check then immediately behind that escalators going up.
This is at the top looking back at the entrance (downstairs)

Check in lobby (just turned around from the above picture to take)

The big yellow ears at the back center are the entrance to the gangway. It's about the size of a football field.

This is about halfway through, the check in counter is on the left, to the right of the center part is a seating area (not a lot of seats, but it's there)pc 2014 terminal embarkation 20030 P1030172 1500.jpg

I bet if you asked the guys taking your luggage at curbside, someone could go and get you a wheelchair. Or, call DCL and ask what the procedure is, you may have to request one ahead of time. Its not just walking to check in, you may have difficulty walking onto the ship, getting to lunch, getting to your room etc. A wheelchair could be very helpful until you get the scooter delivered.

Depending on when you arrive there can also be a lot of standing and waiting. It can also get rather crowded and you could get bumped a little. a wheelchair will give you a little relief from jostling and allow you to hold your carry on if that's hard for you to manage.

I would HIGHLY recommend not getting to the terminal until 12:30. By that time, people are starting to board and the holding area is clearing out. I would be totally frustrated with people not making a path for me in a wheelchair (if I were in one) if I got there before boarding starts. Also, I would recommend Forward or AFT elevators during peak periods of the day while on the cruise.

Our porter got a wheelchair for my father and helped us up to the upper entrance to the port. We tipped him extra for doing so.
