How Much Vacation Time Do You Get?

DH who is near retiring gets 29 vacation days and has 16 holidays built into the calendar, including always, the week between Christmas and New Years. We consider ourselves very lucky on that score.

I work p/t so vacations come to me between college quarters and for many summers, I work 1-5 week session. I like to get paid something during the summer, and the 5 weeks still gives me enough time to go to Cape May. DH isn't crazy about it there, so he comes for about a week, I stay longer.

PS. ALBA your country has the right attitude regarding time-off for people!

boy I am jealous - I only get 4 weeks - 20 days - plus the 12 days - 9 holiday (really 11 holidays - but we have to work some holidays so ) 3 personal days.

I have some vacation days saved up - before I brought DVC - so I am losing them - unless I cut back....

oh well I get a vacation - some of my friends don't get any type of leave - sick or vacation....

hmmm, how much vacation time do i get..... it all depends on how much sweet talk :love2: i do to my boss..... (DH) and it depends if my boss needs a fix of golfing everyday.... then my boss has to sweet talk :love2: me...... Sometimes its nice working for your DH :goodvibes

I'm fortunate- have 9 weeks off/year plus the 6 major holidays.

3 weeks to start.
After 5 years, you begin to add a day per year until you reach 4 weeks.

I have 30 days or 6wks, this includes sick and vacation time - we get an additional 7 holidays. DH gets 210 hrs - but he is also wks 7 12hr shifts in a 2 wk period so he has some flexability with time...Our problem is not time off, but arranging everyone's schedule with 1 dd in middle school and the other in College. - DH has also put a no FL during the summer restriction on my planning.

Company Policy
1st yr - accrue 13.33 hrs per month
2nd yr - 4 wks
4 years - 5 wks
9 years - 6wks
19 years - 7 wks

sheryl0521- It's the vacations that keep me going :flower: . maybe that's why travel has become my hobby. It's always fun to plan the next one.

oh I am waiting - there are at times on skyauction some great bargins and I live close enough to drive - so if the bargin still exist when I retire I am going a whole lot.....

$211 for a week stay in a 1 or 2 bedroom condo in the Orlando/Kissimmee/LBV area.

I get one week after year one, two weeks for years two, three and four. After five weeks we get three weeks, and four weeks after ten years. I'm counting the time-next year I get four weeks!

I get seven paid holidays, but we can't take vacation over a holiday period or we lose our holiday pay. And absolutely NO vacations from before Christmas "til after New Years.

My DH gets three weeks now and will get four weeks right about the same time I do.

My boss keeps urging me to accrue some time incase of an emgergency.
WHY?

I have two weeks per year, then a week paid at Christmas for plant shutdown. Will not do Disney during this time again! Too busy.
So three weeks. Time spent at Disney this year is 2 weeks. I accrue I use!

I get five weeks after 15 yrs. I work 48-75 hrs a week, so it's much needed! About 10 days are spent at WDW, a couple in NYC for a long weekend, and the rest are for doing stuff at home, including doing nothing! :)

I get 25 vacation days, 3 personal days and 13 paid holidays per year. This year I have already been to Florida three times, with trip number four planned for August.

4 weeks, 10 holidays, and my schedule gives me every other Monday off.

Actually, as much as I wish to schedule for myself! DH receives more than 14 weeks paid per year (no...he's not a teacher, LOL). This is why we take a two-month+ WDW/Fla. vacation every summer (for the past 16 years), and still have plenty of time to travel during the remainder of the year! :goodvibes We both LOVE our work, as it permits us plenty of time to PLAY!!! :cloud9:

Things are definitely a bit different where I work in the UK.

Our starting allocation is 28 days vacation, going up to 30 days after 8 years and then 33 days after 10 years, based on a 5 day week. I work 35hrs per week so anything over that is rolled up and we can take it as time of in leiu of hours worked, so I supplement my holidays to add extra days.

We apparently get 6mths fully paid sick leave, after the 6mths it goes to half pay.

All in all not a bad deal.

This is WHY I LOVE the UK~!! :lovestruc The Brits truly know how to "Holiday" for an extended period of time! When they leave for WDW (or other locations) they would not even consider a week/two as being a vacation. Most of the Europeans we have met at WDW during our visits, are there for 4-6 weeks! :cloud9: DD is accepting her unconditional offer to attend the University of York (Honors program) this fall as a freshman, and will be applying for a dual citizenship! She LOVES England, and will more than likely remain there for the entire duration of her academic studies (minimum 3 years at York, followed by her Masters and Doc degrees @ Oxford/Cambridge). :goodvibes In the very LEAST, it offers me the opportunity to travel to London, etc. at least once per year!! :confused3 DD plans to make three trips to/from per year. The adventure continues! :flower:
