How much should we tip garden grocer? We are doing our order right now.
TIA

I think I tipped $5. We did not have a big order, I think maybe $50. There is already a $12 charge in there for delivery. And they only drop it at Bell Services most of the time.

I don't think $0 is out of line. They don't deliver to your room, the groceries are already about twice the price you could get elsewhere and there is a $12 deliver charge. Tip your bell person at the hotel when he/she delivers to your room.

I know i am in uk so prices are bound to be different but when i was looking at the prices of thier groceries the other day i nearly had to call for the defibs . I was horrified. Thier prices were soo high. i think the first thing on my lips was baby wipes $8 !!!:scared1:
I was left in pain and not ordering

I know that my response will not be popular, but I do agree with this. in some cases, the guest is not even there when the groceries are delivered. This is more than likely why the delivery fee is already added in.

Their website states that tipping is not expected and is optional.

From their site:

Am I required to "tip" the delivery person?
Tipping of our delivery staff is optional. You are not required to do so.

Had a great experience with garden grocer & would definitely use them again. I think we tipped $10 & well worth it. As soon as our plane landed I received a call that it had been delivered to guest services-it was there at the Poly when we arrived & the bell hops brought it to the room for us. Next trip we are staying CL so we won't need all the bottles of water-but I thought they provided a great service-others may not agree, but :thumbsup2 for us!!

They brought it straight to our room. We tipped around $10. For delivery I didn't think their prices were too high, we don't have a car and once before took a cab over to the Goodings near DD and that place had CRAZY PRICES!!!

Used Garden Grocer for the first time, earlier this year. . . I did not tip in advance (at the time of placing the order)----but did give the delivery person 8 or 9 dollars, I think.

Their delivery was perfectly timed. I think they called within 5 minutes of us arriving at our room! The order was complete----and the delivery guy made sure to double check with us that we had everything. We didn't have a large order. . .but I appreciated the service and convenience!

I believe their website even has a disclaimer that says tipping is optional. Your choice, really.

:)

As far as the prices of the groceries go, from my experience of staying off site the last couple of trips and doing fairly extensive grocery shopping for our condo, prices in the grocery stores that are within reasonable distance of the hotels are MUCH MUCH higher than our grocery prices here in Ohio. I was floored to see how much the prices were higher. So garden grocer is actually charging close to what Publix and the other grocery stores in the area are charging.

GG bought the groceries delivered to us from Publix. Also, if you can get there, Walmart's groceries were much less expensive. Part of that is they have a much wider selection including their house brand. Compared to GG, Walmart is about half the price - if you can get there.

In addition to the tipping question, I am wondering how far in advance you are placing your order for GG?

Thanks for the info.

We tipped $10.

We ordered about 10 days before our June trip.

As far as the prices go, yes, they are probably higher than your local grocery store. How much higher probably depends upon where you live. I noticed some things were a lot higher and some weren't that much higher. I still think Garden Grocer is cheaper than paying OOP for every meal at Disney. ;)

I think we ordered three weeks ahead or so. I remember wanting to make the arrangements early----'cause they (GardenGrocer) will close out a delivery day if it gets too full. I think there is something on their website about it-----maybe in FAQs or something. I recall seeing a close-out date at one point (early on while browsing their selections, etc.) and figured once I knew what I wanted, earlier was better in placing the order.
