How much to spend for wedding shower???

What to spend for a wedding shower for DH's cousin? I was planning on doing $100 for the wedding but not sure about the shower.

We are in MA. There isn't much on their registery as they live together, own a house and have been together for over 7 years now. They are in their late 20/early 30's.

I was thinking a $29.99 Picture frame set from their registery along with a giftcard but I don't know how much for.

I usually spend around $50 on a shower gift and I am from MA too. Of course, if it was someone extremely close to me I may spend more. What about a gc to Shutterfly or Vista Prints or something like that so they can fill those frames with lost of pictures? I think the yearly discount membership on Shutterfly (not sure what it's called but it gives you discounted prints and other things) is around $35. Just a thought.

Agree that it depends how close you are to the person. I usually spend in the $20-25 range for a shower gift.

Are there more expensive items on the registry that you could go in with someone else for? Are you aware of any bigger ticket items that they may need that some of you could go in together on?

For showers I try to stay away from gift cards unless they are combined with an item ...

For the person who has everything ... picnic basket, picture frame, photo album, hand towels and guest soaps .... did you try asking the Mom or someone close to them for ideas? Many times the bride will say to their Mom "If anyone should ask, I could use ...."

Good luck ... I hate to spend money on something the person will not use.

I would go with just the frames since they are on the registry.

Thanks guys ... I think I will go with just the frames. They know how strapped we are for money right now and the wedding is after we close so we can do the bigger wedding gift.
