Just wondering about how much it would be (ballpark) to rent points for a week at one of the villas. We would need a 2 bdrm in December (early--value season).

We have already stayed in the 2bdrm suite at the GF--very nice, but too expensive for a repeat visit. Just wondering how much it would be for a 2 bdrm villa instead.

Thanks in advance!

If you want to rent points at either of those resorts you're going to have to move quickly. That is the MOST popular time with DVC members and the resorts fill up pretty quickly at the 11 month window. But, to answer your question, a two bedroom will cost 270 point for a week during the first two weeks on December. Points usually rent for around $10 - $12 per point, so $2700 to $3240 for the week.

Thank you Lori!

That is dirt cheap compared to what we spent at the GF. So it's either a villa next time, or 2 rooms at SOG...do you know how many people the 2 bdrms sleep? Which resort has the best villas?

depending on the season, a 2 bedroom at BWI would run between 250 to 350 points per week, with the exception being Christmas and Easter when they go for 426 pts/week... most renters get approximately $10 per point... so, figure for two weeks anywhere from $5,000 to $8,500... remember, there is no tax payable on these transactions, so that is a savings... also familiarize yourself with what you do and do not get as a dvc guest (i.e. no daily mousekeeping but you have your own washer/dryer, etc)

Gigi has it right - you'll have to hussle to get BW Villas or WLV. The first 2 weeks of Dec. are very popular with DVCers.

Rental points are currently running about $10 a point. Go to the DVC board and at the top of the page you'll find the link to the Points Chart for all the DVC resorts and seasons. Points differ on weekdays and weekends.

One week in a 2 bd. at a BW Villa preffered view from Dec 1-14 will be about $2700 (270 pts.) One week at a Grand Villa would be about $5580 (558 pts.) The standard view villas (not Boardwalk view) are fewer points. We think the 2 bd. is the better deal. A 2 bd. PLUS a 1 bd. (470 pts.) would be cheaper than 1 Grand Villa at BW. WL does not have Grand Villas.

When you've figured out how many pts. you need and your dates, go to the DVC rent and trade board to find an owner with points to rent. We've done it in the past with no problems and saved quite a bit. But beware - after renting, you may want to join!

don't ask which is the best - everyone will definitely disagree...

depends upon what you want - near the MK - then VWL

near Epcot or Studios - BWV, party people love this place, BCV - closer to Epcot and a very nice resort...

near downtown Disney - the new SSR - very fancy!

OKW (also near downtown Disney - but SSR is much, much closer) laid back - peacefully.

OKW has the biggest rooms (square footage) - all the others are around the same.

BCV has SALB - so if you have some swimmers - they might like this one.

BWV has the BW - so party people will love this one - SSR might be a choice too because of PI.

just depends upon what you want.

go look at pictures.

The 2 bedrooms usually have a king bed in the master bedroom, a pull-out in the living room and a queen and pull-out in the 2nd bedroom. They can sleep a total of 8 people.
