How much time to get back to LAX?

Hi there! WDW veteran, but haven't been to DLR since '98 and we drove.

On the day we leave, we have a 5:30 flight back home. We're staying at Sheraton Anaheim and have an 11:30lunch ressie at Gooffy's kitchen. I'm hoping to check out and leave my luggage at the check out area. Then we could take a Taxi back to the hotel, and I will arrange to take a bus/shuttle to LAX.

Is this schedule too tight? What time would you leave the hotel to get to the airport in time?

TIA!

The answer to your question completely depends on one additional piece of information. What day of the week? (Weekday and weekend traffic is TOTALLY different.)

Our flight is at 2:30 PM , I plan on being at the airport 2 hours early and with the time it takes to get there and so forth I will be leaving my motel at around 10:30 AM we will have breakfast at Millie's and then head out.

My inexpert opinion...

plane leaves 5:30
be at LAX at 3:30
an hour's drive = leaving at 2:30, except if you are on an express bus or super shuttle they have their own fudge time calculated in and might have you on that bus at 1:30 or even earlier.
So you're just barely making it, by that time!

Be sure to factor in the time for the luggage staff to get your bags from whatever locked room they are in (and to wait to talk to them as they help people checking in and storing their bags before rooms are ready).

If you're thinking of taking Disneyland Express, and IF your luggage isn't overwhelming...you might think about taxiing to DLH for goofy's, WITH your luggage. I don't think you can store it there so it would have to be a light enough load to take to the table with you...then you just arrange to have the DE bus pick you up there, at DLH.

Could even arrange for supershuttle to pick you up there.

Would be a pain to schlep your luggage, but might save time in leaving.

Thanks all. I like the idea of taking the Disney Magic Express. I supose worst case, I could take a Taxi, anyone know how much that would run?

I was offered a reduced rate of $75 one way to LAX, by a taxi driver who seemed to be being nice to me (his was the cab I got from the Amtrak station, he gave me his card and told me the rate if I wanted a ride to LAX).

If you're going with Super Shuttle or Grayline's Disneyland Express, I would absolutely arrange those in advance, though!

Thanks! I just called Super Shuttle and I think we'll go that route. They did recommend a 2:50 pickup to make a 5:30 flight. That did not sound right to me at all,....I'll probably request a 2:00 pick up.

I found a website that calculates cab fare and that would run $95'ish. :scared1:

Re:Supershuttle may i ask you how much it will cost as i am trying to figure out how we will get to and from LAX to BWPPI?

For myself and my DD6 it's $64.00 RT, but they asked for my daughters age, so I suspect it's slightly more for me/less for her. But I don't know the breakdown.

You can save $4.00 if you prepay, but since I don't know exactly when we'll arrive I'd rather wing it and catch a waiting shuttle. I will reserve one for the trip back to the airport.

When we drove on Monday from the Fairfield Inn (on Harbour) we left at 1:45 - 2:00 for a 3:50 flight to SLC. The drive only takes 30-40 minutes when there is little to no traffic... then we returned the rental and took the shuttle over, cleared through customs, etc and we were at the gate by 3ish...

OK, I was wrong. 16 pp each way, 64 for two over 3 year olds.

For others, be sure to use the hotel name when getting your quote. They charge much more when using zip codes.
