I finish my pages COMPLETELY before moving on which means that everything is attached, embellished and the journaling is done. I just can't move on to another page unless the one I am on is totally complete. I am a perfectionist and I LOVE to journal so I look at journaling a page as my "reward" for completing it. I will fiddle, shift and move things forever before actually attaching and then I spend forever on journaling.
It's hard to put a specific timeline on a page for me. I print sections of photos at a time - like all of particular trip (if it's small) or all of my parade pictures, hotel pictures, etc. so that I have them when I'm ready. I then spend a few hours picking out background paper for several layouts. I also might grab a few specific embellishments if I know what I'll need or something strikes my fancy. By the time I sit down to actually scrap, I've usually spent 2 to 3 hours shopping or going through my stash and I usually do this a couple of weeks before I intend to scrap the pics.
Since I usually have my pics and background paper together for quite a while before I actually scrap it, I have time to think about my layouts. A lot of times, I will wake up in the morning with an idea for particular layout, sometimes the whole thing or maybe just a particular embellishment or journaling element.
Once I finally sit down to scrap a page, I may have spent 4 hours on it. From that point, it will usually take me another 2 for a 2-page layout from the beginning of putting everything down on the page to the final journaling.
Like someone else said, the process is just as exciting for me as having completed albums. I drive my CMC nuts!
