I wanted a reservation for like 5:45 pm but they are all booked up ! In fact for my date everything was booked up the whole day except for 7:40 pm. I took it but I really want to make Wishes at 9:00 pm . How much time should I expect to spend at Chef Mickey's??I will be soooooooo upset if I miss Wishes.I want to be out of there by 8:30 pm at the latest. I dont want to rush through the meal exactly eithier.

You would have to rush through the character meal to see the characters, eat, and be to the MK in time for Wishes.

I believe that there is an observatory on the 4th floor that you can watch Wishes from. You should have enough time to enjoy your meal and make it to the observatory.

However, if you want to be at the MK, you'll want to keep trying for an earlier reservation time.

That depends. Do you want to be IN the Magic Kingdom or on the 4th floor observation deck at the Contemporary?

We had a 7:50 reservation for Chef Mickey's and were able to time it perfectly that we made it to the observation deck before the fireworks started. And there were 11 of us at the time.

I want to be IN the Magic Kingdom. I missed it on my last trip and I want my kids to be able to see it in person and see Tinkerbelle fly etc. I'm going to have to keep trying for an earlier reservation I guess.

I've seen you posting on a few other threads that you have two children with PDD. You may want to reconsider watching Wishes in the park. My two, with Autism, do not handle the crowds or the noise being that close. You may find they are much more comfortable and enjoy the fireworks much more from the viewing deck.

Just a thought, good luck with the reservations!

No, you won't make it from that ADR time, especially if you wait for all the characters to visit the table. Keep trying for an earlier time, but watching them from the observation deck is nice. We watch fireworks from a distance b/c my boys don't like the loud noise.

You have to give your self at least 1 hour 15 minutes (if not longer) plus another 10-15 to get to the MK. On our trip last August, we were completely done eating, and our entire room had not been able to see Minnie Mouse. Not really sure what happened with the timing, but we were on round two of everyone other than Minnie:confused3. As people were piling up in the waiting area, our waiter encouraged us to wait for her, but we were there 1 hr 30 minutes and did not want to stay any longer. (we have never experienced that in our 5+ other trips there) I felt it wasn't right keeping others waiting, when we really didn't care one way or the other if we saw her. Oh, and we had 5:00 ressies so those with the 6:00 ressies were pushing back the others and I'm sure they got way backed up for the night!

did you consider trying for a CM b-fast or lunch? Maybe you'll have luck booking one of those. If not, just keep checking to see if someone cancels.

you can always try to go about 1/2 hr early for your 7:40 ressie and maybe you'll get lucky and get seated early.

sending you some pixie dust for good luck pixiedust:

I don't think CM does lunch.
Also, it is quicker to walk to MK from CR than take the monorail. The monorail has 3 stops b4 it gets to MK which takes about 20 min. Walking takes about 10 min.

I think we stayed 1.5 hours?? :confused3:confused3

Last year they had a CM lunch arranged during free dining on certain dates. Dont know if they will do it this year too.

DM -- can't remember when you are going Sept or Dec? If it's Sept they may have a lunch slot again... I think it was announced in late Spring or early summer last year. We booked a lunch for our trip ((we are DVC so not on free dining)) but we definitely took advantage of a lunch break at Chef Mickey's on a MK day. If they do offer lunches call as soon as it's announced and see if your dates are available. It wasn't all dates last year just part of the FD dates.

Ours was an hour and a half. That has been the norm for my family at character meals.

It seems to take forever for the characters to get around the restaurant.

I think it would be a challenge. You might have to decide which is more important 1) fireworks or 2) seeing a specific character.

Your reservation time will make it VERY tight. We had 5 pm reservations, were there at 4:50 pm and didn't sit down until 5:30 pm.

Just be prepared you might miss the fireworks (or characters).

The food was so disgusting we couldn't get out of there fast enough. We ate again when we left. The place was dirty, won't return.
