How Much Time Between Disney Vacations

If we love our first trip as much as I think we will, we're going to shoot for every other year I think. :sunny:

It looks like we are/will be on a three year rotation. We try to go before our youngest child turns three to take advantage of Disney's age brackets. We are going in December and with a fourth due in May, it looks like we will be going back in 2010.

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for letting me in on your family vacations. My husband was very surprised at how much fun he had. On the third day he even asked me to go ahead and book. By day 9 he was still having fun, but was tired. The way his vacation works is if he takes 5 days (which is a full vaction week for a firefighter) then he gets a 2 week vacation. That is bc he works 24hrs. Anyway so he can't really break his days up. He does get 1 day about every other month which gives him about 4 days off. I know werid schedule. But 4 days isn't enough for us to drive down and enjoy ourselves. And my husband likes to have time at home to get things done here since weekends are not an option bc of work. I hope maybe we can go next year before the older kids get to old (out of the characters and more into rides) and then take a trip every three years or so. Keep your fingers crossed and keep the posts coming.

Every other year. I'm an island girl and so on the off years, we go spend a week or two in the Caribbean. This works out perfect for us and it keeps everything fresh and exciting!

We are planning on every 1.5 years. Thats about how long we can stand to be away. Plus then we can rotate a spring (mother day, birthdays, flower/garden show) trip with a december christmas trip.

We go every 2 years but when ds was born we waited until he was 2 and now we are back to the 2 year trip unless we has a 2nd baby (we are thinking about it) then we will wait until that one is 2 and then go back to the 2 year trip. it works for us!

I would like to go every few years I don't want to get burnt out on it. If that is possible!!! I have some other destinations I am wanting to try so that is the paln for us. We are currently thinking about DVC. Though my husband doesn't think it would be very responsible right now, but he did say maybe in the future. So I am hoping!!!

My DH and I went on our honeymoon in 95. Then took my DS and DN in 96. We did not go again until last year with my 5 year old DD. This was our first vacation period since 96. I finally put my foot down and forced him to take a family vacation (He always hated to travel). He and I both now realize how much we need that time together with our DD before she grows up. So we will now be returning in December of 07. I would love to go every year, but have opted for every 2 years so we can really have a blowout trip and not worry about expenses. We are now considering buying a DVC, so we can share the fun with our other family members as well.

My family and I went for 8 days in July 06. That was our first "family vacation". Just this past week, I have decided that I would like to go every 2 years or so. I am planning for May 2008. This gives me almost 2 years to save and plan (my favorite part)! dh is not sure every 2 years is a good idea. He was thinking more like every 4 or 5, but I have told him I can save the money, so I think (hope) he is getting used to the idea. We will see. ds 7 and ds 3 ask almost everyday when we can go back to disney world. After our 2008 trip, I have a feeling I will have to compromise and let dh pick the next vacation spot!

I like the every other year plan - more time to build excitement. Then again, we have trips planned for 2007 and 2008, so I guess we aren't actually following the plan :teeth:

We are going the first week of November. It will be our first trip back in 10 years, and our first with kids. That said, we are currently discussing taking a trip every other year.

We go twice a year - once in early summer and then we aternate between Christmas and Halloween for the second trip! :sunny:

We went this January and I am still trying to get DH to give in to go January 2007! But we agreed that we will go every year in a half to two years. Even though we all would love to go multiple times each year, I think this is reasonable and we have time to save so we can do the extras while we are there.

I would love to go multiple times each year, but we live too far away in Indiana, so that is not really possible! Since we went this past June, I would love to be able to go every year and a half, or every two years. That way there will always be something new! My DH despises Disney :furious: , so he will probably not go with us next year. Oh well, the kids and I might have more fun without him, as sad as that is!!! I am taking them for the MNSSHP next year, and we can't wait! Looks like so much fun! The hardest part is deciding on the resort!!!

I'm thinking we'll go every 2 years from now on. Kids are moving out and are busy with marriage, college, etc...We've gone more often and it does seem like I enjoy WDW more with a longer break in between. Even though my children are older, I can't imagine going often without them.

We go once a year. But that is since 2000 when we bought into DVC. Last year we went with a group of 17. All the cousins love being together for 2 weeks every year.

My family took our first trip to WDW this past June/July. I am currently planning for another trip to WDW in 2008. We can't really afford to go every year, so this will give us time to pay for the trip and save some spending money.

We took a trip in April 2005 for our DS's first trip to WDW. We waited until he was 4 1/2 yrs for financial reasons and he was able to stand in line. It worked out well. Now we would like to go every 2 yrs. So planning a trip for June 2007 but it does depend on my DH's bonus in Dec. So I have 2 months to go until I can officially make the reservations. We are full WDW lovers but won't make us poor because of it. SAVE SAVE SAVE Actually it has taught my 6 yr old to save and that is a great lesson for life.

We are thinking we will go back in 2-3 years. We have another baby on the way, and I don't want to go with an infant so we'll wait.

There are also many other places we would like to see and plan to do a Disney cruise next year.

We were the family on the street that had never been to Disney ( at least my kids had never been.) Kids were little and I was a sahm with a home -based business but we were in our budget years. Well Oct 05 I was diagnosed with cancer and operated on 2 weeks later. The surgery ended our hope for more kids, but seemed successful at beating the cancer. With a month of recovery ( read no driving, full time help for the kids and many down hours for a usually up mom) I decided it was time. For Christmas we told the kids our gift to them was a land/sea Dis trip in May 06.

It was the best, our little ones ( 3 and 5) were kids again ~ gone were the burdens they had carried while Mommy was sick and enduring complications in recovery. DH and I believe we need such a trip every year, to just laugh and have fun. We thought maybe rotating the wdw with the cruise from year to year, and making it work in the $ area would be a great goal for us.

Life is too short and too uncertain, my Sept test ( I go every 3 mos) was not all good and on Wed I go for another procedure. Planning our wdw grand gathering Feb 07 with for my mom's birthday ( her wish for this milestone year) is my therapy. (The girls do not know and every few days ask when we will go again!)

My hope and prayers are that $$ is the only thing we have to work on, that a future of family trips are ours for the planning and taking with a just a little more work to fund them. Do what makes you and those you love :) If for you and yours it is every other year, every year or every other month it does not matter, what matters is that it is for you and yours a magical time when you focus on love, laughter and the beauty that life should be.
