How much spending money?

5th July for 2 weeks. May see you round then. We're in chef mickeys for dinner on the 12th.

If you see a wee boy with specs and clip on sunglasses wearing a white scotland top and his dad is wearing a blue one..... then that is us :lmao:

Don't forget to buy a Scottish Mickey Ears aerial topper for your car in Epcot. If you see a little blue micra in Edinburgh with one on the aerial, its me either that or the person who nicked my first one :(

Two week tomorrow we go and tomorrow I've off down to Thomas Cook to buy my travellers cheques

Will look for the Scotland tops and will get that aerial topper!! :) And if I see that car in Edinburgh I'll give you a wave!! hehe!!

We stayed on site at Easter this year for three weeks and spent £100 per day. We are two adults and twin boys aged 16yrs. We had already payed for all our passes, car hire/insurance in the uk, so the daily allowance was just for food and shopping.
We ate carefully, eating a main meal off site nearly every day; we did this by hitting the parks at opening, returning to the hotel for a swim and then eating at the offsite buffet restaurants. We would pick up a few provisions enroute, stocking up our large cooler box in the room; with bottles ofwater, soda ( to take to the parks) and fruit.:rotfl:
We purchased the Disney hotel refillable mugs( for three weeks these were real bargains). Oh, I forgot we took the mugs to the water parks and purchased the bar code at reduced price, instead of purchasing new mugs( which we had done in the past).
The money was mainly spent at the Nike outlets and walmart, purchasing many pairs of shoes for the teens and my DH too.And myself buying hords of Disney goodies and tinkerbell handbags!!!:cool1:
We did manage to eat full service meals in the parks on three occassions. We still lived like kings although we were careful.
You will have a fab trip with $2 to the £1 - don't forget the resort mugs !!!!!

Will definitely get the resort mugs!! And Diswix - Tinkerbell bags???? :lmao:

Now that I have the dollars bought I just wanna go catch that flight!! I'm going to be unbearable for the next 6 weeks and 3 days!! :cool1:  :rotfl: :woohoo: :yay:

We are 2 adults and 2 teens we have never spent much over £100 per day on food and daily essentials. Our target food budget for this trip is $150 per day, we'll see if we manage to stick to it. We take credit cards too and clothes and souvenir shopping goes on those, we've never felt like we have had to watch the pennies at all.

I've never heard of this what happens as I would possibly use it at Typhoon Lagoon when we go.

Hi:wave2: ,

The most I've taken is $900 travellers chq's and $250 in dollars on my first trip. On my last trip I only had $400 for 2 wks (lost my job :sad1: a few weeks before i went), I took my c/c just in case of emergencies but did'nt need to use it.

I was lucky i prepaid for attraction tickets and put money aside for the maid's tips and my bus passes:drive: . I found lots of money off coupons online :surfweb: before I left, so that stretch my money. I checked out loads of offers at various restuarants and even went to the cinema popcorn:: twice on the early bird rate.

I managed to come home with a queen size comforter, which orginally cost $189.00 and was marked down to $39.99 :woohoo: in the closeout section in Sears. 2 Tops @ $2.99 each and some sandals @ $12.99 in the J C Penney Sale::yes:: .

My last day in Orlando I had about $35.00 left, which I spent at Sanford Airport getting wine :drinking: to take home and meal at the resturant.

It does'nt matter how much or how little money you go with, its Disney :earboy2: you'll always have a good time no matter what.

Ds will probably freak if anyone tries to kiss him lol. I'd better watch Mr D and Master M then.

Im finally gonna post in this thread if only to get it back on topic!

Last year me and my fiancee went for 9 nights - she took $400 dollars, i took $200!

All transport and parks were paid up in advance so this was just for food, booze and shopping.

This year weve got free dining chucked in too and im taking a whopping $500 dollars with me for 10 nights! Maybe it was coz it was the first time id been but i was too busy going on all the rides again and again to ever stop for food or shopping :yay:

Hi all

2 adults, 3 kids, 10, 8 and 3 we are going to stay at POR in July 07 for 21 nights. Paid for tickets here and are taking $4000 (£2000) and plastic of course.

We took £1700 in 2002 and spent about £1500 cash and a bit on the plastic.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Steve

We only take about $200 for incidentals and just charge the rest to our room or a CC. Much easier and safer and suits us that way, but it wouldn't suit everyone, particularly if trying to stick to a budget.

When going to US we always use CC as its finacially the best way to go especially if you use Nationwide CC with no charges.
This weekend we went to Amsterdam for a few days again and knew the places we wanted to eat and drink did not accept cards so took about £500 in cash (Euros and pounds). Got off plane at Schipol and realised I had lost my wallet. We were abroad without 1p or a credit card on us. Cut a long story short my brother arranged with our hotel to give me cash on his credit card and they paid the taxi on arrival but took about 3 hours to sort out sat in airport on mobiles. Thankfully my wallet had been found at East Midlands Airport with all contents and kept safe for me.
So just wanted to say if you do have to take cash split it up and keep it very safe. In future we will split cash and DW take her CC's also.

I haven't a clue whether what we will taking will be enough for me and junior, although judging by other people's responses we should be okay.

I should have around $3000 all in, although I have still to pay $250 deposit for the hire car and $170 for DQ annual passes. Petrol for the car and tickets to the baseball in St Pete's are my only other big expenses (well, that I can think of right now...)

The rest should hopefully do us for food and souvenirs, and the little amount of beer I will be able to drink. Junior has around $400 of his own for souvenirs etc - he can spend it as he pleases, but when it's done, it's done;)

I took about £1100 to Turkey with us last year, and despite it being cheap it was a struggle towards the end. Im definitely gonna plan things better this time (and i'll be drinking ALOT less).

and $170 for DQ annual passes.

Just been thinking about DQ, some people are not impressed, we have been 3 times and really enjoy but only if quiet. What you can do is buy a day ticket $38.34 then upgrade it to AP if you want after you have been in. We considered doing this at Xmas but crowds were so bad we decided not to as we can only visit in School hols when its busy.
Another option I don't know if you have seen(you might have other tickets with water parks included) is a DQ and Water park AP, its about the same price as DQ AP and 1 day in a water park at $137.39

I didnt know you could upgrade a day ticket, thanks Wayne :thumbsup2 I think junior will love it though to be honest, so im pretty sure we will be upgrading ;)

Im not a great fan of water parks though, plus we can get into Wet'n'Wild with our US passes, so we will probably just go there a couple of times whenever we leave US/IOA early. Either that or a swim in the hotel pool, its all the same to me :)

Just ask them at the ticket booth but DW went to enquire at Xmas and they would let us do it then.
We enjoy the water parks but recently just been chilling by the hotel pool instead, you just dont relax in a water park. or a great alternative is Curious George in Universal, take dry clothes for junior to come home(and you maybe). We can easily lose 3 hours in there.:thumbsup2
