How much spending money do your kids get?

I'm about to empty out the kiddos banks to see what they have aquired so far and what I need to supplement for the trip. They do chores throughout the year for Disney Dollars for the trip. They use their money the entire time (except for a few times we'll buy them a surprise) and it totally cuts down on the the "wants".

I'm wondering how much your kids have for spending money at the parks?

Thanks!

My DD8 doesn't really have a set amount. She rarely asks for anything, so when she does--we usually buy it for her. She does love the hair wraps at Disneyworld. She contributes to her 2 wraps--from her money she earns from her weekly chores.:) :) :)

I gave my kids 25 disney dollars each last year. Having said that, if they would have wanted something that cost more, I probably would have bought it. This was just so they could hold on to thier "own money". I buy all their food and snacks and anything that they would "need". One DS bought me a birthday gift, Stuffed Sully from Monsters Inc, for my birthday with his money. Got it wrapped carefully by a CM and Made me carry it the whole way home telling me to hold it carefully, watch I don't bang it, it was very fragile etc. The whole time it was a stuffed animal :rotfl2: You should have seen me on the bus, trying to "protect" it from breaking! Anyway I have to say we spend one day going shopping at the malls for shoes etc.

Same here. Our kids are not big on the I wants either. Maybe because we have been so many times so when they do ask for something we buy it with no problem. We don't set a monetary limit.

When I was a little kid my parents gave me $100 and we could buy whatever we wanted no questions asked, but once we ran out we were not allowed to ask for anything else cause we already spent our money.

This is what my kids get. They can use it anyway they want---but once its gone its gone

Some of you might not agree but thats OK. My kids are Autistic and we only take one big Vacation a year. My DD usually don't ask for much and they get money for Christmas and Birthdays. My DS is like me DH which loves to shop. :cool1: I told them both I will give them $300 for the week and I said if you have any left over it will help when we go to The Turks and Caicos next year. And I know they want to do that:)

I told my husband about how a lot of people do DD or get gift cards for their kids with a budget. His reply was, isn't the trip their gift? Then after some convincing he said, ok $50 to split between them. WHAT A CHEAPO! My kids don't usually ask for much either, they know they don't get something every time we go somewhere. But i wanted Disney to be a treat for them. I know i can convince my husband to do more. I think it's great to get a gift card ahead of time and then you have already paid for you souveniers, KWIM? And it's one less thing to worry about in the parks.

Our ds10 and dd9 both had $100.00 each to spend for the 9 days we were there. It was their own money that they had earned from doing chores and things after they found out about the trip. We really pushed with them that if they wanted money they had to take their own so every penny they earned or got from relatives went into the disney fund.

We told them before we left we would buy them each a set of Mickey ears and one trading pin (they already had some from a previous trip). We will do it this way from now on. It kept us from having to listening to the "I wants" and "Can I haves" all week!

None. Our kids don't ask for hardly anything. They usually find one item that they love and we get it for them. They will look at stuff but as soon as we say it's time to go they put it back and we go. If they really love something we get it for them.

My son has whatever he has earned and/or what he received for gifts.

He usually ends up w/30 -50 earned Disney Dollars. I'm another one, he gets what he wants with his money, but that doesn't mean that I don't supplement a little.

Ok, i don't think i'm going to give them any money or gift cards. They are too young right now. I'm just going to buy myself a gift card and that will be my budgeted money to buy souveniers for everyone. They don't usually ask for things, but if they find something that they really like i'll get it for them.

Our Disney trip falls the same week of my son's birthday. We let him pick his birthday present and we get that for him. Plus, he also takes about $100 of his own money from chores. Very rarely, does he spend even $50 while we are at Disney. If he comes home with some of his money, it goes back into his bank account.

I usually bring some previously purchased items as surprises. I hit the Disney store during clearance times and buy t-shirts and washcloths. It cuts down on buying in the park. My kids don't know the difference whether or not the t-shirt says "Disney World." They just want the princesses. I don't set a limit on the little things they might pick up on vacation, but I do try to plan in advance with glowsticks and autograph books from the Wally World in Orlando. We don't spend a lot- probably because we go so often.
