We have 5 children ages, 10, 9, 7, 5 and 2 yrs old.
Thankfully our children are so happy to be going to WDW, with the understanding that it is an expensive family vacation, that they are not the "wanting" type. We pay for all the snacks and meals. As a gift to each child I buy them a special WDW exclusive t-shirt. The boys picked one from their favorite rides. DS 10 - Star Tours t-shirt, DS 9 - Rock-n-Roller coaster, and DS 7 - Test Track. These are items that you cannot get at the
Disney Store or anywhere else.
I also allow them to buy a toy each for around $25.00. We usually go to DTD twice during our stay. Oldest usually buys Legos, younger DS buys toys. My middle son bought pins from his favorite ride. I was very happy with their choices.
For the girls, DD 5, I let her pick out a toy or princess item. She got the PollyPocket Jasmine and a stecil Princess drawing set. For DD 2, I brought along some princess toys I bought on clearance at the DS. She didn't know the difference.
I try to steer them away from items that can be purchased at
Walmart or other toy stores. I always works out for us.
I think the Disney Dollar buget is a good idea too. I may have to do that next time we go.
