How much space does WDW have left? (Aerial pictures!)

I would not expect another park at WDW or a new US location any time soon.

A new location would spread out attendance, especially if it was on either coast. Disney won't want to do this. They want to minimize costs while maximizing profits with what they have now. The costs of a new park, either at WDW or a new location, would be higher then expanding or retrofitting what they currently have.

And if this post reads odd, I blame the medication I am on. Never taken it before. :rotfl:

Personally, I hope they build a whole new park in another state (Texas?). There was a rumor of some sort of mega-theme park in that region (envirnmental theme?). Central/North has good land access, lots of feeder airports, decent weather (if they stay away from the tornado belt). WDW seems pretty much maxed out to me, but a whole new experience in a different location might entice lots of folks who would not go to Florida or California, or who could now go more often. It is certainly economically possible to build more theme parks, I guess it depends on whether or not the numbers support it.

I suspect WDW, MK and Epcot in partiuclar, will hit some serious infrastructure problems in a few decades, something that would require extensive and prolonged closures for rebuilding. I'd like to think WDW would make a back-up park for this eventuality, instead of constantly slapping band-aids. Then again, I guess closing MK for a year would still be cheaper than a whole new park.

The rumor that Disney was going to build on the west side of Fort Worth has been around since the late 70's (at least I've been hearing it that long). DH swears he and his family saw Disney people out there surveying one time. There are now million dollar homes in the area that was supposedly being surveyed.

"D" has been discussed internally as an area for future development, including a fifth gate. This is a "master plan" idea, no time frame. In the past there were questions about the stability of the land, but apparently those are resolved.

"F" and "I" are both candidates for expansion of the Studios. (Yes, that means a possible crossing of World Drive. In that case, there could be a resort in that area as well.)
