How much sleep do YOU need?

VictoriaT said:
I NEED at least 8, but I survive on about six. I have this very bad habit of waking up at four am and not being able to fall back asleep until it is too late! :surfweb:

this is me. I do fine with 7, function ok with 6. Wish I could get 8hrs sometimes. But I also wake up at the same time, no matter how late I stay up. If it is on a work day...I will never get back to sleep, till like 10mins before the alarm goes off..

7 - 8 is my preferred, any less and I am shot by 14.00 the next day. I lie in on weekends but any more then 9 hours and I wake with a headache.

8 hours is preferred. I usually get 6 and do just fine. But if needed I could (barely) fuction on 3 hours. Once during college I slept for 12 hours and it was the best feeling ever. I didn't do it on purpose. I was sick for a week and wasn't sleeping well because I couldn't breathe. On that saturday I was breathing better so I made up all the lost sleep.

If I consistently get 7 hours of sleep, going to bed at about the same time every night, I feel really good all day.

That rarely happens, of course....

During the work week, I get 6 1/2 to 7, and it is just barely enough. I function best when I get between 8 and 9 hours.

9 - 10 hours for me... DH only needs 5 though

Let me just start by saying I hate to sleep and there are usually a million other things I would rather be doing then laying in bed sleeping. I mean did you ever break down your day to see how much you actually do sleep vs. do other things.
I'm at work 9 hours a day during the week with probably 30 minutes travel time. It generally takes me about 30 minutes to get ready, feed the cats, prepare my lunch. So there is 10 hours for work. People who sleep 10 hours a day and work full time only have 4 hours to spend with their family and friends and do enjoyable things. To me that's crazy. Which is why I would rather be doing other things then sleeping. I can't imagine sleeping when you can be living your life but that of course is just how I feel!

I have gotten by on two hours of sleep a night before sometimes I go days without sleeping. The less I sleep the more wide awake I feel. Crazy isn't it.

In order for me not to wake up groogy with a splitting headache I can't sleep for more then 6 hours.

So to answer the question how much sleep do I need not much but I usually sleep about 5-6 hours a night.
