Hi everyone. I am new here. Sorry if I sound ignorant. I don't know much about Disney but my girlfriend is obsessed. I don't understand the what seems like millions of options there to book a vacation. I don't understand why it has to be so difficult. Anyway, I want to go with my girlfriend sometime during the value season. Preferably, it would be nice to stay at a deluxe resort. I don't think we would want to visit more than 1 park per day, so we wouldn't need that Park Hopper thing.

Does anyone know, on average, what vacation like this for 2 people would run me? I see some of these prices and I am horrified. I don't really understand how some people can go all the time, unless you are well off or something, which you must be. Normal joes like me can't really afford these types of things. Thanks.

Sorry everyone. I'm just bumping this in hopes of it not getting lost in the shuffle. Thank you again.

Ok....here is my info:

going 5/15-5/21 :moped:
staying @ Pop
6 nights/7 days
MYW plus dining and park hopping :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

airfare from providence to orlando

grand total per person: $977 :earseek:

I know that sounds like a lot, but we added the dining (+$35 per night) because we figured it is a really good deal. I am going with my mom, so for us park hopping is a MUST. Hope this helps. :wave2:

Dear LORD! $2,000?! Wow.

But keep in mind that is including airfare (keep your eye out for SWA prices...uses their new service Ding and get some great rates) and dining.

:) Airfare is probably the least of my worries. I can get a roundtrip flight to Orlando for $140. That can't even buy me 1 night in the Wilderness Lodge. :)

I would LOVE to help you out with this, but we have never stayed in anything but a Value Resort. Sometimes I go to different airline websites that offer vacation packages (like Southwest, AA, etc.) and just play with dates and ammenities to compare prices. It's amazing the differences you can find. Believe it or not, the cheapest I found for our upcoming trip was through Disney itself. We're staying at ASMo for 7 nights and have 8 day MYW PH's for 2 adults, 1 child. We're flying from/to St. Louis. We didn't opt for the dining thingy. Our total is ~$700/pp. I think that's a GREAT deal!! Obviously if you stay at a Deluxe Resort, that's going to really bump up the price.

I save for a year to take my mom and son once a year. We always stay in Value Resorts because we don't spend much time in our room. I'm a regular joe too, but this is our one big splurge a year. Good luck with your planning and WELCOME TO THE DIS!!!

I just returned...the following is the general breakdown.

I was solo.

Airfare, car rental, hotel (offsite Masters Inn $35.00 per night), Tickets previously purchased (not included in this), got there on Thursday left the following Thursday, ate mostly at buffets (maximum $11.00 per meal) 5 or 6 small gifts for grandchildren and tickets to Cirque Du Soleil.

Total spent $1200.00. (approx) not all bills are in. I consider that "low end" no frills travel. By comparison my round trip airfare was $240.00.

The only things that I can think of that are the same price for two as it is for one, is the room and the car rental. Everything else would be, logically, doubled.

:cool1:

DH & I are staying at CSR from 9/10 to 9/17. We chose the park hopper option for our tickets and did not pick the dining plan. With airfare ($265.00 per ticket), it is costing us approximately $1,900.00.

Okay sorry but this is my little pet peeve when ppl say how expensive Disney is. Yes it is what I consider a luxury holiday but what are you comparing it against??? Are you comparing that to what you would spend at an all inclusive resort in Jamaca? Are you comparing it to your annual trek camping for a week? :)
As an example we have a local theme park close to us but the daily one ticket price is actually more expensive than Disney. If we were to stay at an area hotel for a week and go to this park everyday it would cost us in the neighbourhood of $2400 for two a week that would include food and spending money. Trust me this particular park while a fun family adventure for a day has NOTHING on Disney and you can't really "do the park" for an entire week.
Seriously cost out another trip with Park admissions every day for a week food hotel and airfare to lots of different destinations and you will find Disney is actually comparable. Yes you can stay off site, yes you can do the grocery shop thing but I think so many ppl get the initial sticker shock from Disney b/c they are not actually comparing :mickeybar to :mickeybar !

Try 3 nights at a moderate then move up to a deluxe for 2 nights. The moderates are great. You can finnd romance just as easily at them. Even the values too! They all have their purpose. I hope you fall in love with Disney the way we have. I think you will love it an so will your girlfriend.

Just my $0.02 :teeth:

Eastern Europe. :) That's a big secret right there.

The least expensive deluxe resort room will be at least $200/night unless some discount code comes along. Food will be at a minimum $50/day for two. To do this you will need to forgo snacks and eat all meals at food courts and/or counter service. Park tickets will be about $250 each person - 5, 6, or 7 day tickets are within a few dollars of each other.

Staying at a deluxe for 7 nights, I don't see how you could get away with under $2300 or $2400. Even at a value resort it will cost over $1500. You will need to add transportation on top of that.

I'd suggest checking the BUDGET Board, see if you can come up with an good ideas to reduce your costs.

You know I what, I just read the previous post more carefully (I have trouble with that for some reason). The actualy Euro Trip is $1,600 for 2 people.

That includes 7 night stay in a 3.5 star hotel, and round-trip airfares (connecting flights) on British Airways. Food is dirt cheap in Prague. I'll expect to pay no more than $8 a day.

The difference is I am not going with my girlfriend, but rather with a buddy, so the cost is split evenly, which is why I messed the $800 up in my mind.

But somehow, it's still cheaper than Disney considering what you have to spend while you are there (I am assuming).

Exactly, you don't need money to have fun. :)
