We are each taking a carry on size suit case which so far has seemed to fit what we think we need. But I'm worried about how much room we should leave for souvenirs?

I'm going to try rearranging things later. But I think that if I expand the suitcases (which would make them non carryon, but on the way back we don't care) I can get all our stuff into 3, leaving one empty. Will that be enough for souvenirs? Keep in mind that this is our first trip, we only plan to buy t-shirts, hats, that kind of thing and will buy for ourselves, and our nephew.

So what do you think?

Bring an extra duffle bag or backpack...It's amazing how much you end up buying on your first trip...I had 2 big suitcases full after 11 days at WDW and outlet shopping. It was nuts. The car was really full on the way home.

Disney merchandise is soooo different than you see in stores. Even the Disney store does not compare...You will buy lots...Too much but it will be too cute to ignore.:hyper:

BE PREPARED!

You will probably end up buying more luggage!LOL

And if you go shopping to the outlets, Oh Boy, Oh Boy! A tip for Outlet shopping - If you see something you may want, take it, it won't be there later!~

Hi again!

I replied to this over on the Community Board but I will answer here so you don't have to go hunting over there.:p

Check my tag to get our theory on checking luggage. We have not done so in a long time.

Most airlines allow one carry on and one personal item. A personal item would mean a purse, a laptop computer, and even small tote/duffel bags or backpacks.

Have everyone carry a personal item with them. The kids could keep books, games, music etc for the plane ride and you have extra room for the trip back.

You could also get a small collapsable bag and pack it into one of your suitcases and then fill it for the trip home.

We find the convenience of not having to wait around for checked luggage to far outway the inconvenience of having to carry on our luggage.

Have a great trip. The Pop Century is a cool place!!!!

An extra bag should do it.

Once we had to buy a roof rack for the car to get home. :bounce: Yup there we were putting on the roof rack purchased at Kmart in the parking lot and realized we had to go back into Kmart to get a screwdriver. That was a bad trip. The car was so loaded it was frightening. Oh, had to buy a tarp too! We went outlet shopping that year. Since then we've tried to limit ourselves. :p

If you don't plan on buying alot of bulky items and just the t-shirts and such, you may be ok, but it's always good to bring and extra bag or something to put it in. You never know when you will find something else that you really want.
We always bringing home two suitcases filled with gifts.

We had to buy a extra bag before we returned home last time! However it was a mickey bag-so it turned out to be a souvie as well!!!

The duffle bag is a great idea, there's only one thing to keep in mind... it can get very heavy (especially depending on how far in the terminal you're walking and how many flights you have).

What we did was pack one suitcase that was slightly smaller into another suitcase, and then when we did our shopping, we had an extra suitcase on wheels.

Hope this helps

We have found that the folding back pack works well. Folds down into a small pouch. Good for at the parks as well. This gives you an extra bag for the way home. If you pack 2 you should be OK if you don't go nuts at the outlet mall. We bought ours at a travel store.
