How much perfume/cologne is enough?

I am beginning to think perfume bottles should only squirt one big swoosh then lock up for at least 6 hours. Or if it is not a spritzer type, only allow 3 drops in that 6 hour span. You know kinda like the chip in the refillable mugs, lol.

Anyone else feel the same?

I wear it only on when getting dressed up, and the I spray it once in front of me and walk through the falling mist, Anymore is too much. DH says he should be the only one to be able to smell in on me when he gets up close.:love2:

Yes, I always heard spray then walk thru the mist or just a dab behind your ears and on your wrists. A dab. Not a dollop, lol.
I rarely wear or use anything scented anymore because of smell sensitivity getting worse with age. But can't stop the general public or customers from drenching themselves.

LOL I love this! I am currently sitting at my desk working on my bosses receipts, he shoves them in his pocket, he wears so much scent that the receipts smell like them and as result I get a headache, it is so gross!

I have Odo-Ban that I sometimes spray around the office and carpets at work so they will not smell bad.
So usually when someone comes in smelling sweaty or with bad body odor or sometimes strong cigarette smells, I will do a quick spritz of Odo-Ban when they leave.

I was off work for almost 6 weeks when I had my hip surgery and when I came back, the lady that worked for me had some kinda strong floral deoderizer out that nearly knocked me down every morning. I never found out what it was but it has finally faded almost away thank goodness.

I wish perfumes were banned to wear in public. I get instant asthma inhaling scents. Also, you make think you smell nice however the people around you may think you stink.

Exactly. That was what made me start this thread. A lady came in and oh my goodness she must have jumped into a vat of vile smelling perfume. It was awful. Thank goodness she was just lost and was just asking for directions, lol. I could not have stood it if she stayed longer.

I always thought the spray & walk through was a movie thing :-)

I do half squirt on each wrist & half squirt in throat area. You do need to up close to smell it. I never wear it in work, too close an environment.

I've always been told that perfume/cologne should be for you and someone you allow into your "intimate" bubble. So not even a personal bubble but closer to that i.e. standing next to you, it is barely noticeable and you don't really smell it unless you go in for a hug. I try to stick to that in the rare occasion I wear it.

I do a spray on each side of my closet once a week. For dates, I wear a small amount on the nape of my neck. I try to make sure if you're sitting next to me in a movie, you can't smell me.

Even worse is some of those older teen boys spraying themselves with a whole bottle of Axe or other macho cologne.

Usually they're just attempting to cover up the stench of their stinky sweaty bodies.

Ha ha. I've told my granddaughters they cannot get in my car with some of that smelly stuff they try.
My oldest grandson used to do a lot of the cheap stuff, then got some nice scent that was pretty expensive so he learned not to use a lot if he wanted it to last, lol. Can't remember the name of the scent but he smells good.

I just do one spray on my neck and that's it. Basically if you give me a hug, you'll smell it - otherwise, nope.

I remember working with a woman who put so much on that you never wanted to be in her small office with her - it was just too much. You could smell her coming down the hall.

My new neighbor was in my house this afternoon for 15 minutes (may have even been less) and I smelled his after shave/cologne for an hour afterwards - that's too much too.

I put it in my belly button... I don't remember where I heard that. I only use a very small amount though because I'm a little OCD about layering the scent so I use the matching lotion.

I wish people would learn not to wear so much. I've had allergic reactions to people wearing too much perfume. The worst is when I was at my allergist's office, getting allergy shots and some other patient would come in drenched in scent. :crazy2:

Last week, I stopped at Trader Joe's for a few things and when I reached the register, it smelled really bad. I figured it was a customer. When I got home, every single item I had just purchased smelled like really stinky perfume. I had to re-package all the stuff (except the bananas...couldn't do that) and put my bags outside to air out. Then I called the store to complain to the manager about her cashier wearing too much scent. She thinks it was probably that the cashier had just put on lotion. :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

Our oldest grandson did that! Ugh!

Why is it some teen boys don't want to take a shower? So gross to just spray cologne on. It doesn't "cover up" smell of sweat it just adds to it and makes it even worse!!

I remember sitting in the bleachers at our local high school graduation ceremony one year. It was held in the gymnasium and of course it was hot that day, a man came and sat down directly in front of me and smelled horrible of sweat and cologne. That was a very l-o-n-g ceremony! Yuck!!

DH used to wear cologne, I loved his Timberline and English Leather when we first got married. :)

Then a few years ago we were on a cruise and he wore some, I think it was called Drakaar Noir or something like that. Several times I felt nauseous when we were at dinner, or at a bar, etc. and would go back to the room early. I thought it was because of the motion of the ship but the nausea immediately went away. Finally figured out it was his cologne making me nauseous! He doesn't wear cologne at all anymore. :)

My allergist has a 0 tolerance policy in anything with a scent. So smelly lotions and no perfume/calone if you are going to his office. Mostly because he pointed out if you are in an allergist office it coukd throw off your own results let alone others.
