Will $200 per day be enough for us? There are 4 of us, DD-6, DS-8, DH and myself, and we have the dining plan. I am also budgeting extra, about $25 per day for extra tips and to tip housekeeping. Does that sound ok?

That sounds like more than enough. Unless you're big spenders, you should have plenty of money to bring home with you.

We usually tip $4-5 for housekeeping each day and tipped only housekeeping, waitstaff and barstaff on our last trip. I believe the dining plan provides for two meals per day and a snack, so you may want to pay for one other meal per day. If you're big shoppers, you may spend the extra money, but with your budget my family would come home with hundreds of dollars in our pockets -- we only spent $50 on souvenirs on our last trip (one toy for each of the kids). I'd rather have extra than not enough!

Enjoy your trip!

Way more than I am planning on spending.....we also have the dining plan and don't really think we will need to purchase any additional food except maybe some drinks. Won't need also of souvineers for myself, DSis, or DS15...maybe some extras for my niece5. I am only planning to take about $500 for the four of us for the week (always have the credit card if needed but I can't see that happening).

Thank you :) We arent big spenders, its just that its our first trip and I had no clue what to expect. Just trying to finish up our plans before we leave next week.

This was our 1st trip as well.. And we also had the dinning package. I did budget for $140.00/a day.. And used an envelope system. And what I did not spend that day went in the next day's money. I found that towards the end I was buying my kids all kinds of stuff that I would not have done originally if I would not have had the money. Mind you they both had their own spending money( Darn pins!!) My girls would have spent all their money onw them if allowed! Now from my 140.00,,, I did pay mousekeeping per day 4.00 and We always left a bigger tip with our meals if I found the service needed it.. I did bring with us, cereal and disposable bowls and my kids had cereal and granola bars in our room so we did not have to pay for breakfast.. I also brought some snacks for our room.. With the dinning plan I noticed towards the end if our week we had to use up our snacks, so I stocked up on water and chips, etc... If you have any questions just let me know...

I was also wondering about this. I don't have a dinning package so I was planning on budgeting $200 p/day for 4 of us. Is this enough? To much?
We are planning on doing breakfast in the room so that's one less meal a day we have to pay for...

thanks so much for all of your help. ::MinnieMo

It really depends on what you plan on spending money on. We aren't big souvenir people so we can get by on $150 a day for 4 of us and that includes food. On vacation, we usually come home with one or two souvenirs each.

I think $225 a day above and beyond hotel, park passes and the dining plan is way too much!

Oops ... hit the return button accidentally ...

Unless you plan on getting spa treatments, rent water mice and bikes, and shop until you drop every day I think you will be perfectly happy with half that or even less.

I don't think we'll be buying to many souvenir although it is everyone's first trip to WDW (except me) Maybe just one or two at most. hhmmm I think I might try to get by on $150 p/day. Plus the kids have there own money they are bringing so if they want something like a toy or something they'll have to buy it themselves (trying to teach them about money). We are planning on breakfast in the room. Two sit down meals (lunch) and meal sharing. No soda in the park and bringing our own water bottels.

$150 will be plenty especially if the kids are bringing thier own money. My DD takes her own money and she knows that once she spends it her souvenir money is gone. It takes away a lot of the "I want that" syndrome. Of course, mom always buys her some things too like pins.

I would say that's more than enough! We were on the dining plan, and with all the food we got from that, we never really had to purchase 'extra' food or snacks. The kids each had about $130 to spend that they had saved up. I think dh and I spent maybe $100 over the entire 6 days we were at WDW.

an additional $500 for 5 days. That would be $100 per day for myself, dh and dd3 for any extra food (we are on dining plan) and souvies. By the way, we are travelling w/extended family and have decided that every dinner will be a character meal so the children will get the full benefit of WDW!!! I LOVE the new dining plan!! It has freed us up to easier budget for other expenses.

You have budgeted plenty...enjoy!!! :flower:

We are going next week and don't plan to spend that much per day. We also eat breakfast in our room, take in our own snacks, and take in our own water. IMO, taking in the water is a big savings! We still buys meals and MICKEY bars!!! We buy each child one souvie and they bring their own money ie. Disney Dollars to spend. We don't typically buy souvies all along but go to Downtown Disney for that. It's fun as we usually do that towards the end of our trip and they have had a chance to really decide what they may want. I think you will have enough for a memorable trip especially since it is your family's first! Have fun!!!!!!!!!

My family and I are visiting the Orlando area in July. We found a site that helps with the cost. To see the dinner shows for less that 1/2 the price. The site is www.ibidusa.com. We found it to be a great savings!!!

thanks Jolee I'll check it out. When in July are you going? We'll be there July 9-16 :cool1: :Pinkbounc

I forgot to add that the kids also have Disney Dollars to spend for their souvies. I just don't want to get there and be unprepared money wise. We are getting a grocery delivery so breakfast will mostly be in room.

Thanks for all your replies...I appriciate it :)

We are going July 1st. Pray for cooler weather!!!. I know it is Florida!!!
