Me, DW, DS-8 and DD-5 are going in March. We've been several times but I'm a planning nut. How much should I budget for food per day? I know I've seen this before somewhere but I can't find it.

We are staying at OKW and we plan to get groceries for breakfast with the exception of 'Ohana breakfast. We usually eat counter service most of the rest. Maybe a sit down for dinner one night.

Thanks.

$100 per day at the lowest.

My sister's family of 5 went and they spent about $50-75 per day on meals. That was with eating breakfast in the room. The kids will probably eat kids meals which are 3.99-4.99. Adult counter service meals are usually $10 max. It can be done for less than $100 a day.

We went down over Xmas of 05. It was my boyfriend and me. We spent about 25.00 per meal per day(2 meals) for the both of us and that was sharing a soda sometimes and that doesnt even include any snacks.

So for 2 adults I would say it cost us $70.00 per day breakast not included.(Bigger eaters)

Last trip in Dec we spent about $600 for a family of 5 ( 2 adult , kids 10,9,3) this included a sitdown meal for 4 of the 5 days, the rest were counter service. I think we ate bfast in the room 1 day.

Anyone else? Remember, breakfast at the room, lunch and dinner most likely counter service plus snack and drinks.

Last year with me, DH, DD7, DD4 and DS 2 we spent about $400 for 6 days. This included a Chef Mickey's for breakfast (rest of breakfasts were in the room), Biergarten for Lunch and Cinderella's Castle for lunch. The rest were Counter service. I personally can't imagine eating more than we did. We did bring our own water and a few snacks into the park.

Wow, you guys did great. I think I'm going to make it OK budgeting $100 / day.

If you are going to budget $100 per day, why don't you just get the dining plan? The dining plan would be $98 for your family. Then you would get one counter service and one sitdown a day plus a snack and a drink each. In my opinion the dining plan is a great bargain. It is roughly the same cost as 2 CS meals a day. Are you a DVC member or renting from a DVC member? If so you are definitely eligible.

We are renting points from a friend and buying tickets through a discount broker. Is it still possible to add on the dining plan? I'm pretty sure I was told I could not unless I bought a package. ??? :confused3 ???

It's not the package you need but unfortunately for you the dining plan is not available for DVC stays until April 1.

we spent about $100.00 a day for just my hubby and i, but we never ate fast food the whole time we were there

We did it last year for 100/day.

One day we went over, but the next we were under! We had quite a few character meals even.....we allways ate breakfast in room!

The best deal we had was our one meal off property, at the chick fil a just outside animal kingdom area!! We were in shock , it only came to 20$!!!!!

We usually eat breakfast in the room, and spend about $100/day. Every trip I fret close to the trip that I didn't budget enough money and every single trip I come back with more money than I expect. Also, you have to try Earl of Sandwich, a short boat ride to DTD--it was great and a VERY good value!!! Have a Great trip!!!!

Yes, we're familiar with Earl. Great place to eat at DTD. Thanks for the suggestion and encouragement. :wizard:

For our family of DH, DD13, DS3 and myself, I budgeted $100 per day but the only day we actually spent that much was the day we had a character meal. We ate breakfast in our room most days, but also ate a couple breakfasts at the food court. If we had a late lunch and weren't really hungry for supper then we just got snack-type food (salad, vegs & dip, fruit cup) at the food court for an evening snack. So I'm sure if you budget $100 a day, you will come out ahead.

Hi,
We're planning an average of $70/day per person but we're planning on one table service per day. (mostly breakfast in the room) so if you're planning mostly counter service, breakfast in the room I would guess $50 per day per person would be safe. Good luck.

~ I just read that you plan on $100/day - you shouldn't have any trouble! ~

Its just the wife and I and when I figure out the amount the whole trip is gonna cost, I figure 12.00 each for breakfast, 12.00 each for lunch and 18.00 each for dinner. Thats 42.00 each or 84.00 total but I know we hardly eat lunch and what we don't spend on that meal goes to the other meals. We also share meals, disney meals are huge and being bulked down with alot of food or ordering 2 meals and leaving half of it, is not how we were brought up. We also do a grocery stop, and we like taking our cooler down to the pool with our beer and wine and some bologna sandwiches. That to me is like going fishing at home, best sandwich in the world with tomato, onion and mustard on fresh italian bread. We do the picnic couple times in a trip, mostly at the pool or Fort Wilderness or waiting for Wishes at the Poly, where we usually stay. Couple of beers or a glass of wine, a piece of cheese and thee, all I need at WDW.
