When I made my December, Christmas week reservations, the CM said I should do the ddp because the restaurant prices will be higher due to the holidays. I have my TIW card, as I am a passholder. I was planning to only do 5 restaurant reservations and CS the rest. How much more per meal do you think it will be? We are eating at Tony's, Crystal Palace (on CHristmas day), Brown Derby, etc. What do you think? We don't need desert at every meal. I just can't imagine it will be so much more that I need to get the DDP.

I almost forgot to add that we will be there 8 nights.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that one of the restaurants is TRex and wouldn't be covered anyway, so that is really more like 4 resi.

I've seen buffets (both character and non-character), as well as fixed price locations (O'Hana for example) raise prices for holiday periods.

Haven't noticed increases on normal table service restaurants, but once Disney figures out how to print a second menu with higher prices and can figure a way to prevent employees from inadvertantly handing out the wrong one they'll probably do that too.

FWIW, the basic DDP has a higher cost during holiday periods too. The QS and DxDP don't change their rates.

About how much more though? I mean, is it 10%, 20%? I expect to pay a little more, but I don't want sticker shock on Christmas!

for buffets, seasonal pricing will add about $4 or $5 per adult and about $2 per child (9 & under...10 yrs old are Disney "adults")

If you bought the dining plan, you would have to buy it for all 8 nights you're there, you can't just get it for part of your stay. Unless you're planning 8 credit's worth of table service meals, it won't be worth it for you.

But one note-- Brown Derby is a "signature" restaurant with higher prices, so if you did have the dining plan, that would actually take 2 credits per person.

OK, so it sounds like unless I want to add more restaurants, it would likely cost a good bit more to have the DDP. Even with Brown Derby costing more. Has anyone taken 4 "adults" (really includes a 13 yr and 10yr old plus 2 adults) to BD? ABout how much per entree? DO they have a fixed price menu also?

Since they've started upping the price of the Dining Plan during Holiday periods, my guess is that it won't make that much of a difference.

$46.99 instead of $41.99 during the busiest times.

Basically, I think that if the Dining Plan is a good option for you during a non-crowded time, then it should be comparable during a crowded time with the increase in buffet prices. If you are going to eat buffets, which you've indicated that you are.

Thanks. That was what I was thinking, I just started to 2nd guess myself on it. Haven't been at that time of year in a long time!
