It has been awhile since we have been to Disney, and I am trying to figure out how much spending money to bring. I am thinking at least $1500.00 we are a family of 6. We are on the MYW + Dining, so food is paid for. DH thinks I am wanting to take too much, but he is the one that wants the expensive souveniers. I know we could probably spend a lot more than the $1500, but what do most of you take for spending. BTW, my kids are saving money on their own, so they will have a lot of their own money.

we usually allow $150-$200 a day, but that includes food. We are really not a souvenier family, so it really depends on how much your family plans to buy.

I figure since food is included we will bring about $200 for my husband and I I also have about $100 in disney rewards and my DD and DS have their own money. :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We are a family of 3, we are not into cheap souvineers either..but we are budgeting out $300 for hubby and I to spend (which I am hoping we don't spend all of), and we will give dd $30 a day. She is also earning Disney Dollars at home before we go, by helping out. She earns $7 a week. All our food is paid for as well. I think the best souviners are pictures. So, we will probobly splurge on the "after ride pics" a few anyway..I also like mugs and beach towels..So nothing too extravagent..but not too cheap either. $1500 sounds like ALOT, esp. if your kids have their own money to spend. I mean think of that same 1500 going towards another WDW vacation????!!! *wink,* :wave2:

During the year while I work my budget is quite tight but vacations are another matter. I like the freedom of being able to spend without constantly worrying about every dime so we bring along a very liberal amount. Usually there is a lot left over which is applied to next year's reservations but at least we know if something is really wanted we can afford it. I was thinking of buying a luggage set at WDW but decided instead to get a top rated one via the internet.

it's hard to say - everyone has different spending habits.
We never "take" cash so there is no set amount there....just use our debit card on the room charge and go from there....we've had budget trips to trips where we have spent tons...

I am in the boat of taking more than you need - just in case....:)

We are taking $1500 for 3 people. For anything outside of food..and other "must have stuff" Just fun money. I hope we come back with some..but not a big deal if we don't. princess:

Bring a lot,,,,, More is better,,,,As far as I am concerned, Disney has been granted permission to legally steal your money.

I have a spreadsheet where I plug in just about everything I can think of to see how much I'll need to save for a trip. I have a line for spending money and I put in $100 a day. That covers unexpected things and souvenirs. That has worked for my family of 4 for the past few years. I almost always break even.

That 'spending money' doesn't include tips, rental car, hotels, airfare, or any other budget stuff. It's just for incedentals and souvenirs.

Good luck!

That sounds about right if you want to be able to go and get whatever catches your eye! I don't usually "budget" that much - my budget is a lot less, but that doesn't mean I haven't splurged on something that caught my eye in World Showcase occasionally!

We usually give the kids the equivelant of $20/day to spend on souveniers. This usually comes in around $100-$150 each. We do not tell them that however, because we like them to think about what they "really " want. For a while there, we were going 2-3 times per year and each trip the final day was spent buying one special gift. They new that from the beginning and looked at each park each day yet didn't make the final purchase until lthe end. (and these purchases were for usually around $30) One really cool thing that happened was that my then 11 year old brought his own money form home and bought me some scrapbooking stuff 'cause he new I liked to do that. My 7 yo bought me gummy bears (and then he ate them all!!)

We have an "ice cream" budget. We have $20.00 each day exclusively for ice cream. By the time each of us had an ice cream and/or soda/popcorn it was gone. (there were 4 of us then) This $20 was not part of our food budget, and stayed in a seperate place on my fanny pack. We might have come home with $$ leftover from meals and souveniers but never from ice cream.

My husband and I don't really purchase any souveniers. The trips are really for me. It's my favorite place, so I could never get a t-shirt, hat, pin, statue and be thrilled. My DH has started to purchase one Christmas ornament each trip that is to remember, but that's pretty much for me too. Other than him buying 2 pins, I don't think he's bought himself anything, and we've been there together 7 or 8 times now.

We do get the pictures after the rides sometimes, but that's only minimal even if you get one each day. Relax, there is always some way to save and some way to spend. :earboy2:

my husband and i always brought more than enough money with us, but we are snowglobe and figurine fans then we also factor shipping in too. We eat in sit down restaurants often and loove to buy picture frames and other collectibles. This will be our first trip going with our daguther and we are also pregnant with another baby soo this year may be all about buying them stuff! i'm soo excited something totally different!! Bring whatever you feel comfortable having and just aim to not spend it all! That was a great idea that someone said about using the left over money to apply to reservations for next year!!
