I was wondering how much money do you think we will need. (7 of us) we have the plan and we are bringing breakfast . How much extra do you usuually alow for more food and spending. ( kids have own spending limit for suvies) :cheer2:

Both times with the dining plan we spent less than $20 a day (5 of us), not counting souveniers. We also brought extra water from home and breakfast items, bought milk at the store after we checked in. The souv cost is an individual thing, depends on what you want. Some of the 20 was for extra tip at TS meals, our service was always above the 18% mark. So we usually left and extra 5%

Juist chiming in to agree that about $20 per day was sufficient. We are a family of four and found OOP spending to be minimal. The only day it was ablove that was when DH attempted to drink around the world--but still with $ cost averaging it was at the under $20.00 per day.

We are DVC, so we had a refrigerator in our unit.

That said, in an 8 day trip, the only OOP food item I bought was a 1/2 gallon of milk. There was way more food on the plan than we could eat. We did share some CS lunches, and got some "snack items" which became breakfast (like a box of donuts). We also left a small amount of cash as extra tip at some restaurants. We actually took a meal for each of us to the airport.

We enjoyed a week last september with the free dining plan at disney. For my family of 4 we only spent a little over 300 dollars. That was awesome!!!!!!!!!

WOW! I thought spending would be a lot more. I have been trying to budget for our upcoming trip in June and was concerned about how much to bring. We are on the dining plan and I plan to order basics from the Grocer. Definitely will order bottled water to carry with us (if we can), and breakfast stuff.

Just heard so much about all the goodies - let alone the souveniers!
We are a family of four and my DH is all in a tizz because he thinks we need (don't know where he intends to find it) $3,000 for 6 days!

my dh thinks we need 1500 for 6 days? I have no idea we have extra water/ soda and breakfast and dd's4 all have there own spending dd. I have 200 dd. i do not know what to think? :cheer2:

Unless you're planning on buying something fairly expensive or doing massive shopping, I honestly think the $20 a day number is right about on. Our food extras in November were to help supplement our DDP CS meals- now that snack are considerably more varied we won't even need as much of that as DD will, no doubt, get a box of cereal for breakfast each morning, etc..

On past trips we allowed $30 extra a day for food, but now with the new snacks; I'm not sure we'd spend it. There are four of us -- me46, DH41, DS13, DS9. We allow $100 each per trip for souveniers and rarely spend half that. My husband wouldn't buy a souvenier if his life depended on it. ;) ;) ;)

We were on the DDP last trip. I spent probably around $50 on souvenoirs, $20 extra on snacks (not on the plan), lots of $$$$ for the stroller rental, and around $30 for food at the airport when our flight was delayed 6 hours.
