Yes, this is a tacky question.

I was just reading another post about the costs of other vacations and now I'm curious to see how much an 'average' family vacation to WDW costs. Of course, there is no average since there are so many variable, but I thought this might be interesting.

Here's my breakdown for our upcoming September trip (2 adults, 0 children):

$0.00 Transportation to/from airport and parking (friend will drop us off and pick us up)

$0.00 Airfare to MCO (we are using travel vouchers we got from being bumped from a flight last year)

$50.00 Orlando Transportation (using Magical Express to and from airport and getting a taxi to and from the outlet malls for shopping)

$160.00 Park Tickets (using our Annual Passes, but we had to buy 1 base ticket each to get the Free Dining)

$650.00 Hotel (Value resort for 7 nights)

$200.00 Food (Tips and extra snacks since we are on Free Dining)

$100.00 MNSSHP tickets (2 adults with AP passes)

$200.00 Souvies

So our total for a week in the World is $1360.00. Not bad at all. (Although I had hoped it would magically come under $1000! :confused3)

How much do others typically spend?

Here's my breakdown for our Sept. trip (2 adults/2 children under 2):

$200 Gas (driving from TN to FL, and around the resorts)

$556 Hotel (Value resort for 6 nights)

$486 Tickets (7 day MYW Base tickets)

$125 MNSSHP Tickets (approx. since prices haven't yet been released)

$200 Food (tips and snacks since we're also on FD)

$300 Souvenirs and extras

So our total for the week comes to $1867. Not too bad, although we were hoping to keep it under $1500 (and may still, since I overestimated on some things just in case).

My current trip is the most expensive I have ever had booked.. hotel, tickets and free dining plan $3300. We are driving down so just that isnt to bad cost wise. Its the first time we will be considered 4 adults and 2 kids. So I need 2 rooms They extra room added $1000:sick: That is for 10 nights.. since tickets cost so little to add on after the 7th day I figured why not.. but now I am reconsidering. I am thinking about cutting back to 6-7 night and there is also a chance my teenage is not coming so if that happens I will switch to POR

We went for 7 nights in March. 2 Adults, 2 kids. 4/3 deal. Quick Service Dining Plan. We flew.

Airfare and baggage: $728.00

Transportation to and from airports: $0 (ME in Orlando and my parents took us and picked us up here)

7 nights, standard CBR room with QSDP and parkhoppers on our 7 day tickets: $2518.19 (This may be off by a few bucks.)

We got the $200 giftcard and I had a $20 Disney Visa Rewards card for booking the trip on the Disney Visa, so our other spending was low.

I don't have the exact number in front of me, but would estimate that we spent an additional $200-300 on souvenirs, alcohol, and random things.

So, grand total was about $3500 which works out to about $500 per night or $125 per night per person for accommodations, travel, food, entertainment/parks, souvenirs and sundries. It was an awesome trip!! We got our money's worth!!

We did the 4/3 over President's weekend 2 adults, 1 child, DDP at CSR also rec'd a $200 GC.

$2300 for Room, meals, tickets
$567 for RT airfare
$0 for transfers

We charged $157 to the room for drinks and extra.
Spent another $200

This year we will spend approximately $4000.

$2600 for 4 people to stay 7 nights at CBR tickets (7/4 deal) and dining plan
$350 for gasoline on the drive down and back
$0 for hotels down and back (using frequent stay hotel points)
$400 for food down and back (already purchased gift cards that give me a credit on the kids' tuition)
$200 for tips and other assorted snacks
$200 for souveneirs, etc.

Since I pay for this at different times of the year, it's not as painful as a single outlay. Disney is our major splurge each year; we are pretty frugal with most other expenditures.

This is the approximate breakdown for our June trip. 7 nights, 5 adults & 2 children, military 40% room discount and tix:

2 rooms at CBR: $2247
5 day PHs: $750
Food: $1500
Gas to/from NC: $150
Souvies budget: $700 (will not use all of this, but that's $100 pp)
Stroller rental: not sure since price increase, approx. $150

Total: $5497

We could be a little cheaper and get a room at a value, but we will definitely want a fridge in our room and we've never stayed onsite before and we liked the theme of CBR. Some of our costs will be offset with GC's from reward points as well.

Here's our #s:

$960 airfare
$1600 Poly for 7 nights (with discount)
$1012 for park tix (10 day no exp. for DH & me, 4 day for DD6)
$600 food (this is an estimate)
$100 souveniers

Total: $4272

We went over our budget of $3000 by getting the no expiration tix for DH & me and paying for airfare. This is the first trip in about 10 years that we have had to pay for a flight! We usually use DH's miles, but he got a new position in Jan. and didn't have enough miles since he travels less. We bought the no exp. tix because we are planning a Disney cruise for 2011 and figured we use our leftover days for the land portion of the trip.

Our August/September, 2009 trip (family of 5 + 1 infant, plus 2 nieces and 1 nephew) will be:
$2,859.30 12 nights POP - 2 rooms - 1 day tickets, free dining
$850.00 to upgrade our tickets when we get there $850.00 - 10 day base tix
(This is for our immediate family only. We're paying for room and 1 day tickets for 2 nieces and nephew (who live in FL) and SIL will decide how many park days -- I'm hoping it will be all 10!)
$300-$400 Tips
$350 Gasoline for drive down
$100 Hotel for the drive down and back
$100 Food for drive down and back
$4,559.30

Here's ours for our 5th Anniversary June Trip

June 10-17 at CSR with 4/3 Deal including water park & more option, king bed and dining plan $1803 for two adults. Bringing $500 in spending cash for beverages, tips and CA Grill OOP.

I don't remember the exact breakdown of what our trip for 2 adults was, but this is a slighty diff one than the rest on here:

3 nights WL: $806 (discount)
4-night DCL Cruise w/ tips: $1500
2 PH tickets & party tickets: $477
Airfare (free w/ miles) but fees for upgrading to first class: $160
Car at airport: $50
Cat Sitter: $160
Car Rental: $130

Add in food, drinks, an excursion, miscell. expenses, and the total was about $4000 for 7 nights.

Jan 09, my husband and I took our adult children and their spouses, plus one grandchild. 10 adults, 1 child age 4.

Airfare from California: $1500 (used airline miles for 9 of 11 tickets)

Towncar Transfers To WDW: $235

Rooms: FREE--Had 5 rooms at BCV-(we are DVC members)

Park Hoppers: $2440 (my husband and I have AP's)

Deluxe Dining Plan: $4600

Dining Gratuities: $1000

Stroller Rental: $75

Mousekeeping Tips: $45

3 day Disney Cruise $10,900

DCL Cruise Transfers $715

Cruise Excursions $1160

Cruise Gratuities: $600

Palo Dinner on Cruise: $250

Alcohol $1000

Photopass Books: $250

T-Shirts: $500

Gift Cards to Provide Spending Money: $1000

Total Cost $26,270 or $2400 per person

Thank goodness we only take our family every other year. :scared1:

We just got back and stayed at the POFQ for 10 nights with 2 adults, 2 children and 1 infant:

Room (10 nights) $2036
9day hopper $590
DDP(9nights) $918
Airfare 5 tickets $1578
Tip $200
Souvies $300
Car Rental $Free with all my AMEX pts

Approx $5620.00

We always spend right around $3000. That includes airfare, food, spending money, etc. Airfare is always about $1200 of that. We've stayed offsite and at value.

Each time I am able to squeeze more vacation out of that $3000, thanks to the DIS. The only reason we were around $3000 last time though was due to Disney VISA free dining in November code. That saved a lot. Thank you DIS- Disney Visa never sent me anything on it, so I never would have known!

What does MNSSHP stand for?

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

There are certain dates in Sept & Oct
At the Magic Kindgom 7pm-midnight
You need a party ticket instead of a regular ticket
There's a Halloween parade, Hallowishes fireworks, trick or treating, etc...

This is our cheapest trip to Disney ever, thanks to the military discount perks this year.

$150 (for gas round trip from DE)
$54 (for hotel night prior to check-in first day)
$631.11 for 5 nights at CSR
$250 (for DS and my ticket w/water park DH's ticket is free)
$349.85 (for QSDP)
$150 (soveniers)
$100 (misc)
total of $1684.96

Well, the only trip I can account for at the moment is my honeymoon, but I think we got a pretty good deal (thanks to a code I found here that I didn't know about!).

I'm not sure about the breakdown because we did have the code, I'm unsure if the code was off the package or room only, but we got 8 days at All Star Sports for 2 adults including Park Hoppers and the Dining Plan for a total of:
$1710

Transportation was free except to the airport, where we spent about $30 to and back (we drove about 2 hours each way) and $50 to park for the week.

Our plane tickets were only $320 altogether out of Rochester, NY.

Souvenirs and extra snacks were about $200.

So the total?

$2310 including everything for 2 people.

Not bad!

Our week long yearly trips average about $5500-$6500 dollars for our family of five. This includes 2 teens and one under 10. We drive down. Don't spend alot on souvies and don't do the dining plan. We do plan sit down meals, but usually leave a couple out that we end up cancelling.

This year has shaped up to be easy on the budget for DH and I

86 Flights to TPA (used Southwest credit from previous booking)
158 Rental Car (mid-size)
0 Free use of relatives Vistana timeshare (offsite - gasp)
225 2 adult 5 day Hoppers - special military companion tix + upgrade to hop
60 WDW Parking for 5 days
700 Spending money

$1029 - our annual off-site May trip usually costs us $2500 - we normally "rent" the timeshare (pay the annual dues amount) and of course we usually spend much more for park tickets & buy lots of souvies, eat at signature dining, etc. This time is bare bones
