My Dh and I are planning a trip for sept for 14 nights! To me this is heaven and I can't think of anything better , but several people have told me that I am crazy and that I will be bored. Has anyone every stayed that long? Any opinions or personal actounts would be great. oh yeah, and we are staying at my "home away from home" The Wilderness Lodge:faint: :faint: :faint: Man do I have it bad !!

I don't think it is to much
Last June we stayed for 14 nights!
this June we are even adding a day & staying for 15 nights :)

Some people just don't 'get it' ;)

Bored at Disney World? HA! How is that possible?

These people who are telling you that you will be bored, are they speaking from personal experience? If not, don't give it another thought. If they are, consider their likes and dislikes compared to yours. They probably just aren't the disney lover that you are. To each his own.

Plan and enjoy your dream trip!

If these people live in an area that is LESS 'boring' than Disney World, I'd really like to know where that is!

We were there for almost 2 weeks in December and are going back for 2 weeks soon. It's great! We weren't bored at all. In fact, we got to the end of the trip and still felt like it went by too fast. We are DVC owners too so I guess we've got it just as bad as you! Have fun!!

We have only managed one 14 day trip and one 10 day trip, the rest were 7 days or less. The 14 day trip was the absolute best. It was so relaxing! You don't feel the same pressure to see everything, you know you will have plenty of time. At the end of the first week, I remember sitting at the pool relaxing and thinking...."This is so cool, I have a whole full vacation still ahead of me!" Go for it, you won't regret it!

14 days sounds absolutely luxurious to me! Just think, for every park day you'll have a lay by the pool and drink margaritas day. Or better yet a lay by the pool and drink margaritas and then go shopping somewhere day!;)

We try to do long trips everytime we go to wdw & I hear the same things you've heard. My advice: ignore 'em!

We've done the two-week thing twice now & they were our two BEST trips! (As a matter of fact, we're heading back this fall for 11 nights, only because we couldn't get those extra few days off from work!) The extra days just allow you to enjoy your surroundings a whole lot more. We were able to sleep in several days - which makes all the difference! - go shopping, resort hop, go to the pool, etc. etc! It was wonderful!! Plus, two weeks away from the real world, no matter where you spend it, really lets you recharge your batteries a little bit. Last year, before our trip, the stress of my job was really starting to get me down. Well, after being away from the madness for two whole weeks, I was ready to go back & start fresh - just what I needed! In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a long vacation - as long as you remember that it IS a vacation - don't overdue it in the parks. That's the beauty of it - you'll have plenty of time!

Have a GREAT trip! :D

That is a great time to stay! You won't be bored! We usually go for that length of time because we live so far away and only visit once a year. Our kids were old enough this past trip, so we included three days at Universal and did both water parks this summer. We also did Sea World for a day. The rest were dedicated to WDW. We had a great time!

Why can't people just say,"Have fun!". I do not for the life of me understand why people feel the need to argue with others about their vacation choices. It's like they're trying to talk you out of some really bad decision. Why on EARTH is it their dang business?!? If you decide to go to Pluto for vacation, that does not affect others the slightest bit.

Drives me BANANAS!!!

GO AND ENJOY!
DH and I took 14 days for our wedding /honeymoon and we have never been so relaxed in our entire lives...so worth it! One word of advice ..if you need keys, computer passwords, alarm codes, access codes, etc for work..write them down and put them somewhere safe while you're away...you will forget every password while you're on vacation...nothing like ticking your boss off on your first day back because you had to wait 5 hours for the computer guys to reasign you new codes...lol

To each their own, I guess.

Personally we would much rather take two 7-day trips than a single 14-day trip. DW and spent 8 days at WDW for our honeymoon and were getting stir crazy by the 6th or 7th day.

To the OP, I wouldn't worry too much about people who make faces at your trip plans. Honestly, I'd probably have done the same thing--but largely because it's just not right for me. Doesn't mean it isn't right for you...

On our last trip we stayed 11 nights and tried to scramble and add a day or 2 ( we were staying on an AP rate) but it was just too much money. We have saved our money now for almost 2 years and are going for 17 glorious nights and 18 days and will never once feel bored. After a few days you begin to feel like you live at WDW.......it is so relaxing . People who say things like that usually only go to or know about the themeparks. Enjoy every second!!

We have gone on several 14 day trips (once it was even 16 days) and weren't the least bit bored. In fact, we could easily have stayed longer (but we haven't won the lottery yet!) This gives you plenty of time to stop and smell the roses. You can take your time and do what you want, when you want and still have time for the extras (i.e. mini-golf, bike riding, shopping, etc.) that you may not do on a short trip. It's also much more relaxing since you don't have to hurry through things. I love it!

You won't find many of us Brits going for anything LESS than 14 days - have a look at the UK boards and there are people planning 3 or even 4 week trips!!

14 days give you so much more scope to (shhh..speak it quietly) get away from Disney for a while and see what else central Florida has to offer!!

Have a great time!!

How could you get bored? In 2000 we stayed a week, and it was great. Toward the end, though, we did feel ready to leave. Not because there's not enough to do. We just got tired of being nickel and dimed for everything (though those nickels and dimes should be replaced with dollars). The price of quality, I suppose.

I think that would be wonderful!!! If we stayed that long, we could REALLY go slow and take our time doing everything. Also spend more time doing things outside of the parks. Maybe someday we can stay that long! I think the longest we'll stay for now (with young children, and a budget) is 7 nights. Have a great trip!!!!!

I've never gone that long, but I think it sounds wonderful! As long as you plan out thing to do and don't do everything in the first week, take your time, etc.

If I went that long I think I'd have to switch resorts in the middle of the vacation just to change things up a bit. And I'd definitely need a rental car for doing things outside of Disney. But I could certainly use a 2 week vacation right now! :hyper:

I don't think 14 days is too much at all. Our trip in September was 15 days and we were not bored at all. (The trip wasn't all at Disney- we had a few days in Daytona Beach, but I think we could have done 15 in Disney easily. :D ) We were in Disney for just 9 days and even then really enjoyed having a couple of days to just swim at the resorts, sleep in, shop, etc. You will have a great time! :D

I'm so glad to hear that there are many Disney fans who take longer vacations at WDW. We started out planning for a week, then 9 days, and we are currently at 15 days and I am so excited! :bounce:

Aloha! :earsgirl:
