I wondered if anyone has exp. long term parking at stl airport, the drop off rental charge is well over 100.00 for a compact from avis from spfd. to stl. ?/

Airport-owned long term is $6/day; off-airport sites start at $7/day. The shuttles for the airport-owned long term lots are few and far between, so if you park there, leave extra time.
We went to the private lots some time ago because we hated the wait.

I do have some good news for you, however. I know how you can get great parking for 7 days free, provided you are not going w/in the next 6 weeks or so. Go to http://www.parkexpress-stl.com/ and register at the site for their mailing list. They will send you a welcome letter containing a card good for 7 free days. The normal daily charge is $8/day or $7/day for stays of over 7 days.

This garage is at I-170 and Natural Bridge Rd., so I know it seems far away, but it is the most well-run airport garage I have ever seen. The staff is REALLY helpful, and the shuttles come every 3 minutes, 24/7. The shuttles take the back route into the airport, and they are very quick. They also have complementary soft drinks and coffee in the waiting area, which is a godsend when you are headed for a hot car.

If you are coming all the way from Springfield, have you considered a park/fly hotel deal? I know that some of the airport hotels offer up to 2 weeks free parking in their lots if you stay the night before you fly out.

Thanks great info yes I have condsidered park and fly just looking at all the options available to me thanks for the web site, just hate to pay the rental co. 250.00 for trip up and trip back when parking for the whole time at 7.00 would run about 56.00 for eight days, but looking at park and fly but the time that we are going the kids are still in school hate to take them out but might be the way to go, or i wonder if you know if it can be done backwards because are flight is getting in late coming back. thanks cmatt

Call some of the airport hotels. If you use an engine like yahoo maps, they will let you enter the airport and request a list of hotels within a radius of so many miles; I'd go with 2 miles. I'm not sure which hotels are offering P&F these days, several of them have changed hands recently.

thanks again for the info and the reply, going to look into right now, cmatt

I live in Decatur. Several people that I know park in the lot of the Casino Queen Riverboat on the East St. Louis side and take the Metro to the airport. The lot is supposedly safe. Last I knew, parking at the Delta Queen was free. The Metro ride is pretty cheap.

Good luck.

John do they tell anyone that they are leaving their auto there ? and they are ok with that ? like for 9 days ? cmatt

is to call the Casino Queen 800-777-0777. My understanding (again realizing that I have not done this yet - but plan to) is that the lot is free since it doubles as a Metro lot. It is also patrolled.

Give 'em a call and get the scoop. You could save $50 or so.

I didn't mention it because I understood he was coming from Springfield, MO, which means that going all the way to the East side to park would add over two hours of travel time total, which for me would be more aggravation than the saving would be worth. Obviously, it does make sense if it is Springfield, IL he's coming from.

I know a few folks at my DH's office that park in the Queen's lot for work. It is patrolled, but I've heard that it is still a hotbed for getting license renewal stickers stolen. If you park there, be sure to take a razor and slash your tag stickers first so that they are difficult to peel.

I assumed Springfield IL. My Bad. The license sticker story sounds a little discouraging to me. I would assume that the long-term and intermediate lots at Lambert are not open to the public but I can't say for sure.

Park and Fly sounds like the best idea.

Thanks Skeez and Snake lot of good ideas and different options to look at, Its exactly the kind of help I was searching for, good work cmatt

:bounce: ps I was at STL last weekend and stayed at the Westin across from the stadium if you have'nt yet you shopuld try that Heavenly Bed, 10 layers of pure comfort, it is great.

What about Kansas City....Does anyone know if they have park and fly? Any other options. I don't remember parking being very expensive there though.

friskykitten you might try hampton at the airport, court yard by marriott, Holiday at Internatioal Airport good luck cmatt
