How much is a leftover day worth on a child PH?

DS9 has one day left on a 4-day old-style Park Hopper (no plusses, never had them). We're going to WDW in December, and chances are good that this is the last time we'll be there before he turns 10, so I figure I should apply the remaining value of this PH towards his MYW ticket. We'll be at WDW for 7 days in December, and I'm planning to buy each of us a 7-day MYW with park-hopping and "water park and more" options (we're going to hit DQ a couple times).

But . . . then I started thinking I'd buy tickets in advance through Ticketmania, which would save money on both our tickets (it's just the two of us on this trip). This looks like it would save us a good amount of money, especially with the Mousesavers discount.

But . . . then I can't trade in the value of the leftover day on the PH.

So . . . anybody know what the value is on a one-day child Park Hopper (without plusses)?

One day remaining on a 4 day ticket. The trade up value is roughly 1/4 the original cost of the ticket, I guess around $35. If you trade up the new ticket must have non-expiration. Whereas a 7 day ticket used during a 7 day vacation should not have non-expiration which costs $59. more.

For use as-is the value depends on how and when DS uses the ticket. Used as-is during a 1 to 3 day vacation after DS turns 10 the value is more than $60. Used alongside a new 6 day ticket on a 7 day vacation (bad move) that ticket will cut three dollars off your ticket budget.

Ah, thanks -- I hadn't thought about that. I don't want no-expiration.

I'm starting to think I'll just hold onto that one day left for now; there's some small chance that we'll be at DL next June, before he turns 10, and if so we can use it there. :earsgirl: If not we can always apply the value on some other trip when I don't mind getting the no-expiry option.

It won't work at DL, but he can continue to use the ticket at WDW. If the child who originally used the ticket ages out, then you can exchange the 'child's' ticket for an adult MYW ticket for no charge. You legally can't use it for another child, so they kind of have to give you a way to use it. You could buy a seven day ticket for yourself, and a six day ticket for your son (at the discounted price), except that the difference in price between a six and seven day ticket is a couple of dollars. If you plan on going again, your best bet would probably be to buy your son a ten day no exp. ticket, so next trip he'll have four days already.

This is a very detailed link which will answer any questions you may have about trading in old tickets, etc.

A Park Hopper pass most definitely can be used at DL. The procedure is a little time consuming - must go to DL Guest Relations who has to then telephone WDW Guest Relations to check the validity of ticket and to have a day taken off in the WDW computer, then issue a DL ticket - but it definitely can be done.
