As a follow-up to another post, just thought it would be neat to go ahead and count my change in the vacation jar!
So how neat would it be to post how much we all have in our change/vacation jars, and how long we have been saviing?!?

Here is mine: Saving for 5 months. $60 in paper + $56 in coin = $116!!! This equals to saving almost a dollar a day! Not too bad! I had told DH that we would only use vacation money for this April trip if it was $100 or more. Guess we will be using it for Disney!!! + $56 in coin = $116!!! This equals to saving almost a dollar a day! Not too bad! I had told DH that we would only use vacation money for this April trip if it was $100 or more. Guess we will be using it for Disney!!!

I have an "Amazing Money Jar" (Discovery store) to put my change in. It counts your change as you put it in. I like knowing how much is in there! :) I've been saving since we got back from our trip in Jan. and when the jar was full it had $149.65. So I've rolled that and have $32.50 now. That's $182.15 since Jan.!! I love it, I finally found a way to save money. I absolutely will not spend any change!!

My change jar hasn't been growing much at all since I started staying home and not shopping, funny how that works out. Anyway I was thinking last night about counting it, so I guesse I will today. I have a Jack Daniels wiskey bottle (I don't drink snagged it from a friend) about 4 inches full of .25. I have seperate jars for all my change- keeps the kids busy that way. But I got a big O.J. Bottle at the stoe for the purpose of a change jar. (Becouse my son gave my hubby a paint can he made for chrismas I no longer get his change he puts it in his bucket) So I started to crumple up my dollar bills and put in this big o.j. bottle and it is full. I stick a $20 inside a one every now and then and put it in so no one can tell its in there. don't want to take them out to count, I'll just keep crunching them down tell no more will go then cut it open before our trip.

Wow nowellsl...I thought I was doing so well LOL....

I am going to make an educated guess and say that I have approx $70 which I began saving from our last oct/nov 2004 trip! I keep pennies in an old apple juice jug and silver in the "pig". When I cashed out in Oct 2004 (saved for about 16 months) we had almost $200 :cool1:

I save all change, but don't often have a lot because I charge everything I can to the Disney Visa. I use a change "machine" that separates and puts the coin into the correct roll. When the roll is filled, I take it out and put it into another jar until the trip. Since we never have a huge amount of money, DD gets whatever change is saved for her spending money on the trips. Usually, it's around $60 after I take out a roll of quarters to use for laundry on the trip ;) . She knows that if she wants something, she needs to budget that money. It's amazing to watch her do that and it sure does save me from the "I wants" :rotfl2: . It's been working out very well for us. There's probably about $35 in the jar, right now, since our November trip.

Let me ask you this...when do you decide to count? I haven't counted since September, and try not to...I only did this time because of the promise I had made to DH (we would only use the money if it was more than $100).

We started saving right after we got back last May. I keep a running tally as we put it in, and confirm it when we roll them (great family time together and good learning tool for the little ones learning to count). We roll them about every three months, and then change them into Disney $'s so they can't be used for anything else. We try to use cash as much as possible and always save the change (we rarely use a credit card), so we have quite a bit saved...$240 in Disney $ and we're ready to roll again soon!

I would guess between the one at home and the one at work. I have about 30.00. Not bad. I did cash in once when I thought DS was taking money out. I had $27.00 then and made that into Disney Dollars.

I save my change in one of those Disney Popcorn buckets.. Fantamsic is on the one I have.

When I get back I will be saving change in that for my cruise. I am hoping a Mexican one in 2007. But who knows......

nowells, isn't that the neatest idea? I found one at Books A Million. The kids (and I) love finding change on the floor, just so that we can put the $ in and watch the total grow. I LOVE my jar.

Lori P. :)

I have about $140 since the beginning of February. Not bad!! I actually started emptying it ever few weeks and put it in a 12 month add on CD so it will atleast earn some intrest. then every few weeks i turn my change in and deposit it right away.

Since the second week of February, DH and I have $162.00 in our savings jar! :goodvibes :cool1:  Every $400 I deposit into my checking account and then move over to ING. So "technically" since September of last year DH and I have $1000 in savings! :faint: ISN'T THAT AWESOME??!! :teeth: I deposited $400 that I had saved up in December and then I did it again this past February. Not bad I would say, being able to save $800 that quickly, huh?? ;)

DH and I have been saving since we moved into our house almost 3 years ago. We started rolling the other night to see what we had for Disney in May. We got about half way through and have $200. I don't think we are doing as well has some of you though, I guess we need to stop spending our change.

We just changed in our change containers and had $504. That will all go to our trip in 9 days.

I have $270 in rolled change and $195 in Disney Vias rewards. I've been saving the change since our last trip this past year and it takes awhile to acumulate since I don't shop a lot. But, hey, every little bit helps! We don't sail until June so I still have a little while.

I don't know how long it has been since I cashed in our change, but my DD and I counted last Monday night and we had $152.00 in there at that point, but that was what we rolled. We have more that we haven't rolled yet, but not a significant amount. I'd probably say around $165.00. Every little bit helps. I also have $155.00 dollars in Disney Rewards to cash in!! :cheer2:

I have been saving since the End of August. We roll it once a month. So far I have deposited $289.50. I probably have another $20 in there right now. I also have 101 in Disney Rewards. We go in December.

I'm guessing we have about $150 in the right now (since we used it a couple of months ago for Vegas  )

I don't have to physically count ours because our bank offers a machine the counts it and prints out a voucher that you take to the teller to cash or deposit :cheer2:

I've got about $250 in Disney Rewards right now :cheer2:

I can only give a guess here -
We have not touched the jar since our trip in 2002
and I took a small container to cash in after I madwe the deposit (no way I can take it all in one trip since it is a huge poland springs botte 1/2 full and I can't lift it!
That small container which is about 1/20th of what is in the jar was 103.56 so based on that we probably have over 2000 in our jar :cheer2:
Now I have to start cashing it in again as we leave in 5 weeks! :earboy2:
I also had $133 on my Dis Visa coming my way (and I only got the card just before christmas!)
