How much have the DL rooms on points increased?

With the large initial purchase requirement I'm still on the fence about GCV. I'm not obsessed with a Villa I just want to stay on site without having to open my wallet. That being said how much have the points to stay at PPH/DLH gone up in the last couple of years and do you think the trend will continue? I still believe if the sales are as brisk as we all think at GCV they will add more rooms sooner rather than later and we'll be able to book at 7 months within a couple of years. It's a lot to think about.

I don't have historical point charts for the compare, so someone else will need to help with that question. I think it's gone up a few pionts every year?

Another variable is that we don't know if Disney will start charging the $95 fee for PPH and DLH once VGC opens. If they do it could have an large $ impact on those of us to who like more frequent, shorter DL stays... Also, with more west coast members owning points, there may be higher demand for the two remaining non DVC properties: if VGC owners have trouble booking the villas during peak times, or if VGC owners purchase APs and want to supplement their stays with non DVC DL properties...

It's all kind of unknown right now, but in this economy if you are undecided it might be wise to hold off and see how it all plays out.

Actually they went down by a sizable margin about 3-4 years ago.

Back in 2005 they didn't have any weekday/weekend differentials. Here are some Value season rates for the Grand Californian:

Std View: 39
DTD View: 44
DCA View: 48
Concierge - Garden: 68
Concierge DCA: 71

As of 2008, here are the same GC rates with weekdays first:

STD View: 23/37
DTD View: 24/39
DCA or Pool View: 29/47
Concierge - Garden: 42/67
Concierge - DCA: 43/70

Since other non-DVC destinations didn't get similar reductions, I would say that these changes occurred to try and get more members to visit DL in anticipation of building a resort there.

Hard telling what the future may hold, though. There is precedent for taking the rest of the GC out of the Disney Collection once the villas open. And they may jack-up the rates for the other two resorts. The $95 non-DVC booking fee may also be implemented (DL resorts are currently exempt.)

I think it's a given that another DL resort will follow but the timeline is purely speculative.

I'm paying 32 points per night for 4 weeknights in standard view in August at the GCH.
