We're renting a car at the MCO airport and wondered if anyone knew how much
the tolls are from the airport to WDW one way? I want to be prepared with
enough one dollar bills. Thanks for any responses! :thumbsup2

I believe that there is 2 - $2 tolls. That's for 417 to WDW. If you have EZ Pass, it will work on those tolls.

You would need an E-pass or Sun-pass, not I-pass or EZ-pass.

Dollar bills are not enough for the southern route (417); you need several quarters as well at least for the Osceola Parkway exit.

Anyone know how many traffic lights you hit getting off at the previous exit (536 to Epcot) to avoid the exact change toll?

THe northern route (528 to I-4) needs only 75 cents, change is made from dollar bills, when you take a left at the first light after leaving the airport. Just over a mile later is the next entrance to 528 and you hit only one tollbooth.

Can't remember exactly how much total it is if you go 417 to Osceola, probably under $3-4 one way. However if you do take this route, the Osceola exit off of 417 it is change only or sunpass = 50 cents. There will be no one manning the booth there, so remember to bring a few quarters.

EZ Pass does work on the toll booths on 417 (we've used it there). You only need quarters for the southern route if you get off of 417 and then try to get back on; otherwise, you need dollar bills. I just checked allears.net and it says that there are 2 - $1 tolls.

Directions from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Disney's Boardwalk Inn and Boardwalk Villas:

Follow the signs for the South Exit from the airport to pick up SR417 South (also called the Central Florida GreeneWay) towards Disney World. Once on SR417, you'll have 2 toll plazas for $1 each. After the 2nd toll, take exit 6 (SR 536/International Drive). Go straight through two sets of traffic lights (first intersection will be International Drive; second will be SR535) which will put you on SR536. Continue straight on this road and go straight through the next set of lights. You will pass the Marriott Orlando World Center on the right and the Nickelodeon (formerly Holiday Inn) Family Suites on the left, then I-4.

Just after I-4, you'll pass under the WDW welcome arch and the road becomes Epcot Center Drive. Follow the signs for MGM/Epcot Resort area - it will be the 2nd exit after the arch. This will put you on Buena Vista Drive. Stay in the middle lane. Follow Buena Vista Drive straight. You will pass Caribbean Beach Resort on your left. Get over to the right hand lane as you pass the Exxon Station which will be on your right. Turn right at the next set of lights (Epcot Resorts Boulevard) which is directly across the street from the entrance to Disney-MGM Studios. The Boardwalk will be the first hotel on the left.

If you need a grocery stop before arriving at Boardwalk Inn/Boardwalk Villas you have several options.

Option 1: Follow the above directions for leaving the airport and picking up SR417. Get off at exit 11 (South Orange Blossom Trail). NOTE: There is a 50-cent tollbooth at this exit that only accepts exact change so be prepared. Turn left at the bottom of the exit ramp. There is an Albertson's (open until 1:00 am) about 1/10 of a mile up and a Winn Dixie (open until midnight) about 4/10 of a mile up. If you turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp, there is a SuperTarget (open until 9:00pm Sundays and 11:00 pm every other day) a short ways down.

>>> EZ-pass does work in the toll booths on 417 ...

Don't everyone try to use your EZ-passes in Florida or your Sun-passes in New Hampshire. At least not until your home state toll agency says so. The technology may be the same but if the toll agencies don't have reciprocal billing arrangements you could be treated as anyone who went non-stop through the toll booth with no transponder at all.

No, EZ Pass does not work on the E-pass/Sunpass system. Our local traffic reporter for the Sentinel has to address this question every six months or so - that and turning left on red arrows. Here's a link from the E-ZPass web site that shows where they can be used: http://www.ezpass.com/static/info/facilities.shtml Florida is not on the list.

I would recommend bringing about $5 - $10 in quarters, dependng on how much you'll be driving around. Also, bring quarters, not dollars because a lot of the smaller toll booths are not manned. If you have quarters, you're fine, if you have dollars, you'll have to run the toll.
