My DD (8 when we sail) has $100 worth of disney dollars saved. She's not much into video games as I never allow her to play them. What else would she need money for other than a couple of souveniers?

My dd's were 7 & 9 when we first sailed DCL. They also didn't do the video games. They each took $100. They bought stuffed animals, $20 - 25. They made cute bracelets (which they have miss placed!). Those were not really expensive. Postcards to send to friends. My oldest dd bought a deck of cards. They had a great time trying to find things to buy with their money.

That is the goal we are heading for again, $100 each.

Hope that helps

My daughter loves to get her hair braided. Depending on where you get it done, and how much hair is braided, $100 could go very fast...

Perhaps an excursion she really really really wants to go on and you've put your foot down, forgotten she has money, and said that if she wants to go so badly then SHE can pay for it.

Actually, unless she wants to buy a couple of disposable cameras (land and under water) and pay for the film processing afterward, I can't think of a thing. She might want to re-stock her supply of post card stamps when she's there, too.

Maybe a special souvenir gift to send home to a grandparent, aunt, uncle or friend. Also she might find a T-shirt or outfit she likes in the shops in the ports.

Our DD had about $200 in Disney dollars for our land/sea trip. (This was all her money - from gifts, allowances, chores etc.) She was responsible for purchasing all the "gotta have it" souveniers, and hair braiding. She made a charm necklace on the ship. She bought DH and I some "thank you gifts" and she got into pin trading a little bit. She also got some scrapbooking albums, an autograph book, and she purchased a couple pictures above and beyond what DH and I bought. And - she bought an Eeyore (at wdw).

She spent her money wisely, and my thing with her money is since she has earned it - she can spend it on just about anything she wants - except junk food.

She budgeted it wisely - because once she ran out - she was going to be out.
