How much driving time from Hojo's to USH?

Those of you familiar with traffic patterns etc, could you help me out? How much time should I allow to get from Hojos to Universal Hollywood on a Wednesday or Thursday morning (May 30 or 31st). I believe USH opens at 10. We would need to park, get tickets and head straight to Transformers as soon as the park opens. What time would you recommend leaving Hojo's?

I'm not sure if the "head straight to Transformers" tactic is ideal. I realize it is new and lines are bound to form quickly. However, the ride is on the lower level, and it used to open a half hour later than the upper level. I haven't seen anyone mention if that has changed recently. If it hasn't, I think going on the Simpsons ride first, then down to the lower level, is more time-efficient.

Traffic is unpredictable in L.A.! After 8:30 or 9am I-5 usually is moderate traffic allowing 50-60mph. Earlier than that can see heavy traffic especially nearing downtown and the 101 where you'll be heading. We usually plan on a 1 hour drive time but sometimes we've made it in 40 minutes if theres no traffic.

Returning has often been slower heading south on I-5. No matter what time we leave in the evening weekdays or weekends I-5 south has always been rather slow for us. But then, that doesn't matter except the kids are tired and want to get to the hotel.
