How much does your 6 or 7 year old weigh

My dd at 12 yrs old is 51" tall and 72 lbs. (has always been like that on the charts, even at birth!)

My other dd, at 7 1/2 yo, was 46.5" and 46lbs (I think the weight is right - kind of on the thin side but not too much).

Oldest dd is now 17, 5'6, and 101-105 lbs. She has always been like that.

I say, plot your dd's growth on a chart, see how HER curve usually falls. Then you check to see that she is pretty much on her OWN curve.

My DD just turned 8 last week. She is 54" tall and weighs 65 lbs but she has 0 body fat. She is solid muscle from gymnastics. She wears a size 7 regular bottoms and a size 6x top. She also has a long torso and and long legs which make finding pants very difficult!

My DD just turned 8- but is 52 inches and 51 lbs. She is very petite and is very active in soccer and dance classes. Sister in laws are very petite - hope she stays like them. I was skinny when I was younger but a little taller than average- have always been "big-boned" though.

My 7 year old is tall, probably 54-55" and weighs around 63 lbs. He wears 8 jeans (only because he insists on wearing them at his butt crack), i just bought him 10s and they're too long and cinched up a ton on both sides but if he'd wear them at his waist they would probably fit. Been buying him size 10 shirts but they have room to grow so he's more of an 8 there as well. He also wears a size 4 shoe.

He's been at the top of the charts since birth. He's not chuby, he's actually stayed the same weight the past three years but has shot up a ton in those years. His ped isn't worried at all because he's totally height/weight proportinate, he's just in the 100% for both for his age.

My 6.5 year old is 70# and about 53 inches. He just had another growth spurt so I am not 100%. But he wears size 8 bottoms (adjustable waist) but they are kind of short for him. Tops he is in 8/10.

Sometimes I worry about my DD8 as well. I believe she is about 78 lbs. I'm not sure of her height but I know she was able to go on Expedition Everest in May. She is very active in swim and butterfly is her best stroke so she doesn't have the most feminine figure. She wears 10/12 in both pants and tops. She should probably go to a 12 1/2 but then they are too long. I don't think her pediatrician is concerned. She has always been in the 90% range for weight and 75% height since day 1 so she is consistent. My DS3 on the other hand...her sister will grow up to be angry with him. ;) That boy can eat and eat, just like his dads side, and stays a skinny little thing. He wears a 2T. She is like me, poor thing. We try to keep her active and make healthy choices. OP - had your DD always been on the "bigger" side? I wouldn't be too concerned.

My daughter will be 7yo in February and she's 49.5 inches and 48lbs.

I agree with the others to plot her growth on a chart. If you go to the CDC's website, they have the same charts your pediatrician uses.

I have been plotting all my kids since birth, only because my 1st was super skinny as a toddler and we had to weigh her frequently to check her growth cause she dropped several weight percentiles between 9-15 months. So I had to do it with her and just got in the habit with all 3 kids. And we're back to weight checks with my youngest as well, who is not yet 16lbs at 10 months. Wouldn't be a huge issue, except she has some food allergies/intolerances and reflux and has steadily dropped percentiles since birth (she's now off the charts weight wise).

I guess this won't help the OP but it is amazing how kids grow at such massively different rates. My DS is 4 and is 48" tall!! If he keeps on the same growth curve since birth he will be 6'8" some day...needless to say I am putting him in Basketball at an early age, just in case:)

My son is 12 yrs old and is 5 ft. 4 inches. He weighs 79lbs.
My daughter is 9 yrs, old is 5 ft 3 inches. She weighs 107 lbs.

completely different body types.

I have two on two ends of the spectrum....
dd8 is 73lbs - she is very tall....comes up to my shoulder and I am 5'3" dad is 6'4"
dd5 (turning 6 2/10) is 37lbs and she is the shortest in her class

my 8 year old wears slim sized clothing though as far as pants go...and she can fit into my 5 1/2 sized shoes....she is more than likely going to be tall like daddy!

Like the PP my DD will be 6 in Feb. She weights 35# and is 38inches tall. DS in the meantime is 4 1/2, weighs 48# and is 41 inches. :confused3

My DD is 6 and weights about 45 lbs and 45 inches tall. She used to be very small for her age but now is more average.

My almost 4 year old DD is 37 lbs and 41 inches or so. She's bigger for her age.

I am not worried about her being small... it is the opposite. She is does not look obese by anymeans but she is 47 1/2 inches tall (Daddy is 5'3) and I found out today at the doctor that she weighs 72!!! pounds. She looks more solid than most of her classmates who have skinny stick legs. She wears a size 10/12 tshirt and size 8 pants if they have an elastic waist. I am having such a hard time finding clothes for her specifically pants. Thank GOODNESS we live in Florida and I can get by with shorts partially during the fall/winter months when it is 70/80 degrees outside. I am having a difficult time with all the "skinny jeans" style of clothing- I have to get a bigger size and then the pants end up twice as long. I am not suzzie homemaker and don't own a sewing machine / really know how to put a hem in pants. So frustrated

try boys' jeans. my DD is tall and not skinny. plus pants are too big on her. but some regular pants are too tight. the boys' jeans fit her better (especially straight styles). also, i bought her some jeans at Target that have some stretch in them and fit her better too.

My DD is 7 1/2. She weighs 67lbs. and is about 52" tall. She is one of the tallest girls in her grade. She wears a size 10 in shirts/ dresses because of her long torso, but only a 7/8 in pants - a size 10 would fall off.

If you are concerned about your DD's weight (and I'm not saying you should be) - you might want to check with a nutritionist and take a look at her diet and make sure she is getting plenty of exercise. This is definitley a time of year when we notice our kids have put on weight because of back to school and the sudden lack of physical activity.

I would second this. In general, I find boys clothes to be so much more realistic about the actual shapes of children. It is much easier to shop for DS11 in all the different stores than it is for DD7.
