How much does the tooth fairy bring

Wow - $20? The tooth fairy leaves $2 per tooth at our house. When my oldest DD (7) asked last year why the tooth fairy left $10 per tooth for her friend and only $2 fr her, I told her that I thought $10 per tooth was more than a kid needed and that I had called the tooth fairy and told her to only pay $2! She did leave an extra dollar one time when she apparently had too many houses to stop at and so came to our house a night late!

Tooth fairy, when she stops here will be leaving $1/ tooth. My son just finished kindergarten and is the only child to not lose a tooth. One child did report to him that they got $20 another recieved a gold necklace, etc. I informed my son that there was more than one tooth fairy like the movie.

A toonie a tooth.

Canadian, you know. ;)

We do a twoonie a tooth at my house as well. Both my girls have a little tooth fairy tin and the twoonie fits perfectly inside.

Although a couple years ago, when a tooth came out DL, my DD got 5 Disney Dollars instead. We all thought Tinkerbell must help out when you're visiting there.

Oldest DS has a "tooth fairy box" that's round, just about the diameter of a quarter....the thing is tall enough to hold 4 quarters, so that's usually what goes in it.

well, i only have one child, so i guess i've spoiled her a little, and maybe i pay too much for her teeth, i don't know, lol. for a big tooth, such as a molar, the tooth fairy will usually leave $2.00-$3.00. for the small teeth, $1.00 is the norm. when she lost her first tooth, she got $5.00, even though it was a small, front tooth. i still have all of her teeth, lol, and she'll be 13 in a couple of months.

We don't have any lost teeth yet, but another child told my son that the tooth fairy gives $5 per tooth. What happen to a few quarters like back in the day? So $5 per tooth and an additional 4-5K to straighten them out in a few years. Sounds like a deal to me

DS has only lost two teeth so far. He got $5 each time. Tooth fairy didn't have any change. ;)

The Toothfairy usually left $1 at my house, until she made a dire mistake one night. A tooth came out very unexpectedly and the poor Toothfairy couldn't find any change or paper money anywhere in the house.

And the darn ATM only gave out twenties at 2 a.m. :headache:

My mom always made my sister and I leave our tooth in a glass of water.. To make it swim.. well when we would wake in the morning there would be 8 quarters in the glass as well.

Our price varies. We set a a bad precedent on vacation one time. My oldest lost her two front teeth at the same time and the tooth fairy forgot to get some change for the large bills. She got either $10 or $20. I don't remember.

Prices vary between $3 and $5 in our household.

Depends on if we have singles in the house.

DD10 JUST lost a tooth. Her comment was "I hope the tooth fairy brings me $10. I'm running low on cash."

(FTR she knows that I'm the tooth fairy...but she cherishes childhood and plays along for fun.)

I always got silver dollars.

I had to substitue sak a geewwaahh..., (thats not my name)

sooka geweea (nope!)

(sorry, saw night at the musuem 2)

(Sacagawea dollars!)

The tooth fairy who serves our house uses a random number generator. A cynic might conclude that that is related to the following facts: 1) Mom doesn't keep cash in the house. 2) Mom is a single mom which prevents midnight ATM runs and 3) Son has a tendency to not announce lost teeth until he's being tucked in at night.

Mom also wonders if maybe son has figured out that the chance of getting a $20 is increased if he waits until bedtime to tell the truth. Of course the chance of getting a handful of pennies from under the couch cushions goes up too.

My son just turned six so he has just recently begun to lose his teeth.

He's lost two now....each time he's received $2 in the gold coins ($1 coins) to make the money just a little more special than regular dollar bills. ;)

I love all the tooth fairy stories!!! I am also glad to know I am not the only one who has been caught unprepared!! LOL

for my dd's very first tooth, I was unprepared and only had a $20 in the house, so the tooth fairy was very generous on that one!
the second one I did $10, now it has been $5 for each tooth ..........tooth fairy also puts quarters, same number as age.

the other night when I posted I was again unprepared, only this time, I had no cash in the house!! just had the quarters, and could scrape up a dollar bill!!...........so wanted to see if others only gave a dollar too........haha

but then I remembered gold coins after reading someone's post about it, and I happened to have some, so tooth fairy ended up bringing 5 gold coins:thumbsup2

I have a plan to keep a stash of quarters, ones and fives in the house for future use!

How old are your kids when they lose that first tooth?

My DD just lost her first one - she is 5. She doesn't use her own $$ for anything right now because she doesn't need to I guess (she rarely asks for anything when we are out and isn't in school yet). I thought she would just get a gift of some kind (like a book) but then she talked with her friends and decided that the tooth fairy must leave money.

So, the tooth fairy gave her a dollar bill since that would be a novelty (she has a bank with loose change in it that she has scavenged from around the house but again doesn't spend it on anything and doesn't really think about using it that way) and also a Tinker Bell pez dispenser (one of the few things she had asked for lately).

I guess if she had her own $$ she could have bought the Pez dispenser for herself when she first saw it but I thought it was more fun this way. She will probably start getting a small allowance when she goes to school in the Fall.

Future teeth will probably result in only the dollar bill. Molars might bring more, depending on how old she is when she loses them.

Interesting thread - thanks for posting it.

All I can say - do yourselves a favor, and once kids start comparing toothfairy "payouts" - start paying in foreign coins!!! My DD LOVED getting foreign money - and had NO clue what it was worth!!!!!

Five bucks for the first tooth at our house... (oh the drama...)
A gold 'fairy' coin that equals out to $1.00 (should anyone decide to spend it) for any tooth after that. The fairy prefers to fly with coins, it's like going to the gym for a work out.:rotfl:

This whole thread is going to cause me to start stashing ones in my wallet, just in case.

DS lost his first tooth at 6 months old in a nasty face-meets-table accident. Then he had two teeth pulled at 2, due to problems caused either by genetics or an after-effect of that faceplant (his dad's dad's family have horrible baby teeth, but then again, he could have hit his upper gums on the table but no one noticed b/c they were so busy dealing with the blood coming from his lower gums, we'll really never know).

The tooth fairy never visited b/c of course he was too young in our opinion! So when he loses his first, he's going to get 4 teeth worth. But he has TWO loose right now, and of course since he has 3 spots without teeth to lose he might be getting new teeth at any time (which also seems an exciting time to celebrate) without the warning of a loose tooth ahead of time, so things might get very busy all at once.

We don't do the Santa thing or easter bunny etc etc, around here, and we've never influenced him either way about the "truth" of the characters at Disney he meets, but for whatever reason, the tooth fairy is just plain old fun. Oh, and he has decided on his own that I'm his TF, just like I'm his Santa (not sure why hubby isn't also Santa, but then again I'm the one wrapping things so my writing is on the tags LOL).
