hello i fly to orlando on june 13th for our first time and really looking forward to it. and since its our first time i dont what to go short there are 4 in our party. me my wife and 2 kids aged 11 and 9 . we are staying in a villa i i have budgeted $1100 for food and petrol and was thinking of taking $3200 FOR ANYTHINK ELSE we have already payed for our tickets disney and seaworld we got the 14 day ultamate tickets and the seaworld pay for one day put you can go back as many times within the next 6 days. so my question is do you think we will have enough money, as i want to bring back some nice thinks to remember our trip.

lee

A very difficult question to answer but over $4000 should be more than enough yes, we stay in a villa too - last year we took $4000 ish , we also had all our Annual Passes/park tickets etc and came back with $1500.

Probably take a similar amount this time, I guess how much you bring back ultimatley depends on how much shopping you will do and what you will spend it on?

Lee,

I would have thought that would have been enough for two weeks but depends on how much you want to spend shopping! We normally allow £2,000 for two weeks but I've got three children.

I would agree that would be enough unless you go wild shopping (run the risk of being caught exceeding your customs limits).

Once you've taken off all the attraction tickets we're normally about £2000 for 3 weeks and we've 2 kids about the same ages as yours. More than half of that would be spent on food/drinks/petrol.

I take $3000 for me to spend (villa etc car etc already paid for and we have annual passes) I am a compulsive shopper though lol, dbf takes around $2000 for him to spend

That sounds like plenty to me Lee :)

Sounds like you'll have enough $$ to me - but beware - the more you bring, the more you'll spend! :rotfl2:

We usually only take about $200 and use an ATM or CC for the rest - paying it in full on return of course to avaid any fees.

Df & I take $3000 for the two of us for two weeks. This is to pay for food, drink & souveniors. We dont like shopping though so we dont spend $$$ on trainers & jeans etc.

This is what we do as well - making sure we take the Nationwide cards to make sure we avoid those hidden fees :)

hi
depends if it's a late deal holiday or a planned one! $100 for every thing food, sundries etc. tickets , car and accommodation already sorted for planned holiday. for budget holiday as little as we can get away with without eating bread and jam forever when we come home, please no "if you can't afford it you shouldnt go" i am quite happy to be there on a strict budget and half the time it's cheaper than europe!

We take the same which is $300 a day,it is ample, In December we brought nearly half of it back which was enough for 2 leather sofas and a new computer!!

We have worked it out to have $200 a day to spend between two adults, our 7 year old son and our 2 year old son. We have all our tickets paid for, staying on site with car paid for etc. We will take our cards with us to charge any clothes we will buy out there.

I'm there with you!I would still go if i could only afford the holiday and food budget.Spending money is fantastic if you can manage it but i would still be happy to come home without a single souvenir :goodvibes

thanks for the advice i was just wondering what it costs for a meal out there lets say we tuck the 2 kids aged 9 and 11 and 2 adults for a sit down meal what would that cost average price?

we charge everything that can be charged (including snacks inside the parks, since we stay onsite)..

but despite the fact that we put everything on plastic, we usually carry several thousand dollars just in case -- plus to cover things that require cash (like tips)....

That is so difficult to say as the cost varies so much. But as an example, a typical character meal, buffet style would be between $24 - $28 an adult, $13 per child. This would include a soft drink but tax would need to be added on as well as a tip.

We tend to allow about $120 a day for the two of us, just for meals - more if going to "nicer" restaurants like Jiko, California Grill etc.

Offsite at somewhere like Denny's, Chilli's, Shoney's etc for main courses, soft drinks and a couple of desserts this usually costs us under $40 (which includes tax and tip). This is for 2 adults and 2 children eating from the children's menus :)

Our 2 favourite places to eat are Ponderosa ($40) and Margharitaville at Universal City Walk ($60 less if you remember your AA card to get 10% discount)

Our 12 year old always eats from the adult menu but our 9 year old eats from the child menu.

Depends where you eat?
Ponderosa buffet starts around $8.99 per person for all you can eat. If you go to somewhere like TGI's or Planet Hollywood Type, you pay from about $14.00 for a main course. We try and be sensible and buy granola bars to snack on. Sometimes if you eat 'three meals' a day over there, you are very uncomfortable.
Also, on the money front - you'll get a better exchange rate on your card's, but remember to check out the hidden charges. We bank with Barclays and if you use the Bank of America ATM's you don't get charged! If you don't go mad, $200 - $300 per day should be ample for food etc..
Have a great time!! You'll love it!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
