How much money do you allot for souviniers? we have 5 kids and I don't really buy anything for me except maybe a shirt or something. I do LOVE to spoil my kids though and was wondering how much everyone else allots? Also, we have 2 packages of unopened trading pins from last yr and I was wondering if we can exchange those? I have the receipt somewhere. Will they do an exchange? That's all I want...no cash. No biggie if they wont but we never got into th pin trading thing. thanks!

well you can just trade the pins out with cast members and get ones you like better that way :)

We usually spend $100 a trip on that type of stuff...the bulk of which goes to my DS5. Every now and then I will have a specific collectible type of thing that I am looking for (like my Minnie and Mickey statue) that we plan for ahead of time...but for impulse buys I try to stick to that budget or it gets out of hand. Plus we go so often that we really don't need/want much anymore.

oh dear... this a topic I should never go near.

I'm an uncontrollable madwomen when it comes to buying things from disney!

I buy things for family but mainly for myself (sounds selfish I kno, but I don't have any kids yet so I figured I'd get it all out the way now lol)

Last time we went we came away with loadsa stuff but the most expensive by far.... and it took me months to get over the shock of agreeing with myself to buy it was this beautiful BatB statue.

You should spend how ever much you want and can afford. Some people spend $50.00 an entire trip and other's spend $50.00 in an hour. Do what's right for you :thumbsup2

We told DD7 & DD6 nearly a year that we were going to WDW and that they should start saving up their allowance, birthday money, etc. for souvenirs. The oldest has nearly $175, while the youngest has about $130. DH & I bought them Disney T-shirts, autograph books, lanyards and a few other items online and at discount stores. We'll also buy the penny press books, a package at BBB and all the food. Anything else they want they'll pay for from their own money. DH & I budgeted $100 for a few items for ourselves.

Not much, as the trip and memories are more than enough. Most souveniers are gone and forgotten as the kids get older, but they will always have the memories.

It totally depends. A splurgy type trip we will spend close to 500. Other trips the kids have had 100 each and we have spent no extra. It totally depends on what we are in the mood for, but the kids usually earn/save birthday money etc and have 100 to 150 to spend.

When we went last summer, we used the Gift Card Promotion, but were already on the dining plan, so the whole $750 card was for fun stuff. We used some for drinks, snacks, etc, but we spent probably $500-$550 of it on stuff. It was so much fun to be able to just buy what we wanted.

This year, when I go back I am not going to have nearly that much of a budget, but I still imagine I will spend a couple hundred on things to bring home.

Wow - this is a hard one. We have a budget in mind - around $100 for our DS5. In the past, we have gone over that to more like $150. Please Note - my DH loves souveniers and our trips are 10+ days long.

my 6 year old, who will be 7 in May, ( when we go ) has saved all his money for this trip, I will probably give him 100 limit, on top of what has already saved, thats not including his lanyard, pins, autograph book, all that I will buy before we go, so thats just to spend on himself...
as far as my babies go... they dont really understand the concept of money, and I have a hard time saying no to them :rotfl:... I am going to TRY and stay under 500 for souvies.. DH won't want anything I am sure besides food and we are on the DxDDP... Ill let you know how that works out in about two months!!!:lmao:

Think what you will, but I've definitely been "that person" who seems like they buy everything. I love my Disney souvenirs. I always get some apparel, something with the year on it, pens, and usually something "special" which is always somewhat expensive.

For me, I figure easily $400. Disney is definitely expensive, but to me it's worth every penny.

How much do I spend on souvies?? TOO MUCH!:)

:thumbsup2:goodvibes

I spend a ton. More than I would care to admit here or to my husband.;) I LOVE my Disney stuff. I buy it, and LOVE:lovestruc it.
Pick a $ amount that you are comfortable with, add a little *extra just in case* and use that figure. :)

When I was a kid and I went to Disneyland with my family, my parents never bought us kids souvenirs. They always thought theme park merchandise was too overpriced. Now I'm an adult and I currently don't have any kids of my own. But I don't really spend a lot of money on myself buying souvenirs. I do spend a lot of time looking in the shops, picking out something I want, then talking myself out of it because it's too expensive and I don't really need it, then putting it back on the shelf. I guess my parents telling me souvenirs are too expensive really stuck with me!

I do however LOVE to buy gifts for friends and family members back home when I'm at Disney World!

So as far as souvenirs go, I usually budget around $20 for things for me, and around $50 for gifts for friends and family.

I don't buy much. I get a new scrapbook, a Christmas ornmanent, a hat for DH, T-shirts for the kids and new antennae balls. That's about it. Pictures are the best souveneirs, IMO.

I agree with this (not that it keeps me from spending any less:rolleyes1;)) - And I love your families "progression" photos. Very sweet. :)

that's it here too. An ornament always and the kids will each maybe get a t-shirt. Otherwise...I've got better things to waste money on. Flame away, but it's sad when people are head to toe in Disney stuff - back home.

But the OP is planning on heading down with $5000 so I'm sure she can a few extras. :)

For us it's a Disney/Easter gift. Since we head to Disney every Easter we allow kids $50 ea. for a gift they choose . Usally our kids find a shirt and small toy for that amount. We also get better memories from photos, so we make sure to pack the camera and lots of spare batteries.
