How much do you spend on extra drinks when on DDP?

But a gallon bottle of water is only 79c in the first place so not a big money saver!

agreed
and it means going back to publix or walmart. It's not something people do every couple of days
paying for gas, taxi or bus just doesn't make sense just to save 40c, and even just stopping by on your way to someplace is costly (and will most of the time end up as a grocery stop where you buy more than you need and realise that you need to go back to the hotel because you have stuff to refrigerate) (and most guests will end up realising that they left the container at the hotel :p )

still, it's good information, but sometimes, saving 40c costs a couple of bucks ...

we spent far too much getting the kids extra souvenier drinks with meals !!

The past 2 trips we drove down from NJ and brought a medium size cooler filled with water and Gatorade (since my oldest son won't drink water). We put the extra drinks in the mini fridge when we got to FL and used them while we were at the Resort. We were on the Deluxe Dining Plan so we got 2 snacks per person per day and with 3 meals a day we didn't really need food so we used our snack credits for drinks. We however never end up using all our snack credits so at the end of our trip we go to the quick service location and split the credits up between drinks and snacks for the drive home. Its always worked out well for us. Although for our next trip hubby wants to fly :( don't know what I will do without my cooler full of goodies for a long car ride lol

You're on the UK board. No one here is driving down with a cooler !!! ;)

The girls have saved up over £100 each to change into dollars (mainly money they were given for xmas and birthday) so I think if they want those I will suggest they pay out of their money - that is usually good at making them realise whether or not something is important to them! Does that make me mean? :rotfl2:

OMG I totally missed that, lol...Yeah I don't think driving would be possible there lol

If only we could drive. We have driven to DLP every time we have been and it is great to be able to just fill the boot with drinks etc. :goodvibes

When having our meal in resort of an evening we used to take our refill cups and get a bottle of coke ect and keep that for park next day that saved us quite a lot. We love star bucks so we often used a snack credit for drink there too. We dont drink alcohol so didnt need to spend on that.

Alot of people here mentioning Alcohol being expensive. $5.50 for a bud is £3.50, which is pretty much the price I'd pay anywhere in London after work, or in my local out in Essex. It's still cheaper then the £5 you'd pay at a football ground, or concert!

It's not cheaper than I pay locally and what you're comparing to really is USA prices, which are considerably cheaper. Go to the garage near Beach Club for a six pack of beers and do the comparison yourself.

Personally the comparison for me is to what I'd pay at home for anything recreational. When I'm in the USA I don't often buy from the Supermarket, but at home thats cheaper too. When I am in WDW I expect to pay more, that's just how it is!

no not mean at all , i do that now they are older , my 7 year old doesnt want anything when he knows he has to pay for it himself.

What would you budget for ice creams and drinks? Not alcoholic ones, and we are on DDP, staying at Grand Floridian, so we get a drink with our 2 daily meals plus obviously the refillable resort cups. I've budgeted $600 for 7 nights for 2 adults and 2 young children, does this sound realistic? Does anyone know whether we will have an in-room fridge? We are going to stock up at Walmart too, but won't give the kids warm drinks so won't take water etc if no fridge.

you can use your snack credit for ice cream

I hardly spend any money on drinks because we purchased a massive bottle of water from a publix and drank that in the room and used it to fill up our smaller water bottles for the parks.

Also you get a free drink when you use a quick service credit, so when we dined at the resort or any other resort with refillable mugs we'd get a bottle of drink with our meal and save it for use at the park. We would use our mugs for drinking during the meal.

Were a family of 5 and usually get 3 bottled drinks with our qs and 2 fountain drinks as they are so big!!
That way were never actually buying soft drinks oops, we will also get an extra drink instead of a side for some meals too as we don't need day 5 sides of fries.
We also normally manage to share adults qs meals and when it's a hot day we get 3 meals between the 5.
We also buy bottled water on the first day. So that we have that to start our day with.

When in epcot, you also have the taste station and my boys love getting their drinks from their so that's a park we don't use much money for drinks at lol.

Alcohol wise we normally only treat ourselves to a cocktail when we do a signature meal so probably 4/5 nights out of 14 and we will get a alcoholic drink at epcot, as they have so many great stops. Especially if it's food and wine.
So o reckon the absolute most we spend on extra drinks for 14 night stay would be $150.

We come to WDW lots and until the past five years would always spend a decent amount of money on drinks in the parks. If we had a car we would always stock up at a supermarket (but this wasn't great if we had no fridge in our room) or if we didn't have a car we would order some from garden grocer to be delivered to the hotel. In this situation we would always take one drink in to the parks each morning and then buy others during the day when needed, I can't stand drinking warm drinks on a hot day and after an hour in the Florida heat even frozen drinks are getting warm. However more recently we haven't bothered taking any drinks into the parks and just get free cups of filtered iced water from any location that serves fountain drinks. It's filtered so tastes so much better than the metallic tasting water that comes out of the water fountains plus it has ice in it so is really refreshing. We take a couple of empty water bottles to fill up in for our two younger children (they have a habit of spilling drinks with a removal lid) and my eldest, my hubby and I just drink from the paper cups. We didn't start doing it to save money more that we didn't want to fill up on fizzy drinks and wanted them to be really cold, plus they serve Dasani water in the parks which I believe is just filtered not spring water. Castmembers are used to people asking and are more than happy to provide it, we were on the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch and the castmember doing the info schpiel while we were on the train actually said to ask at any counter service restaurant with fountain drinks for it.
