How much do you spend for a Disney vacation

I really just don't get how people can drive to FL from Ontario, on $175 gas round trip :confused3 You can seriously drive for 48hrs on that much gas??? :confused3

Well............first of all, it doesn't take 48 hours to get there. When we drive it takes us anywhere between 19 hours and 22 hours, depending on traffic and how many stops we make..........far cry from 48 :) :)

We have had quite a few trips and they vary in cost from $3000 to $10000.

Now we only fly Southwest- 5 airfares cost me around $600 CDN.

Car rental around $200

We spread a our AP's over a few trips.

Food about $1000/week.

I love my souvineers so I budget $1000 for those, pins, snacks, t-shirts and birthday/ Christmas presents.

We went last september and spent a grand total of aprox $4500

$3600 for a package from Disney Return air fare from Bangor ME ( Closest US airport ) ( 10 Nights at POP , 8 day Expiring park hoppers and Free Dining

$ 80 For hotel in bangor with free parking $ 50 gas to get to and from bangor

We Used Airmiles to rent a Car For the 2 days that we where not at the parks $ 40 us for gas

$ 50 us Tips for Mousekeeping ( Done in envlopes at home )

WE spent around 100 on souvineers ( $ 70 at walmart & 30 at parks )

THe rest we spent on asorted Snacks and meals

We are ME DW DD 4 And my DMIL

THis does not include the money that we spent before we left ( New sneakers ,New Luggage , Batteries for Camera , Airbed for DD etc )

I don't have the breakdown here but the total cost for our flight out of Pearson, hotel (Poly), DDP, Tickets (with Hopper), and transportation to and from the airport for one week for 4 adults and one child was $11,350 and we leave in 3 weeks......yippie!:yay: :cheer2:  :woohoo:

this year, it's me and my boyfriend going in December....

Flight: $695 total
Transportation: Still working on it, but I have never spent over $100 USD for a rental down there for the same time frame
Hotel: Luckily, we are able to rent a new timeshare through my parents for $400 for the week
Tix: Depends on what BF wants to do, but I suspect we will not be spending more than $500 on tix for ALL parks (Sea World, Busch Gardens, USO, and WDW)
Parking: Average about $50 - $75 (this includes Park n' ride at our own airport)
Food & Alcohol: Eating in hotel for breakfast and bringing own snacks into parks, we averaged around $750 for the week (and this is being very frugal!! We probably will be spending more than this as BF likes to drink a beer with every meal)
Gas: $150 for 8 days
Don't forget Tolls (they can add up if you are driving): $20
Gratuities: Depends, but we figured around $35 for the week
Souvenirs: $150 - $250 (he's never been, so I figure he will get something while down there, or I will buy stuff for him - HUGE Cinderella fan and can't get much here!!)
Shopping off property: This is where I always lose money - LOVE LOVE LOVE USA stores (Sephora, Bath & Body Works, Victorias Secret, and ALL the Outlet Stores) - I won't factor this price in as it is usually OUTRAGEOUS!!!

Anyways, we figure we will be spending for 8 Days around $2700, not including the spending we do while shopping there (and it's usually far beyond what I should be spending...this is what I have to save up for!!!)

Then again, I always save up more than I what I think I will be spending too....I want to be safe....better than sorry!!!

Our trip last April cost:
900cdn for flights out of Detroit for the 4 of us.
300cdn for a deluxe ins. package for all of us.
2000 for 7 nights at Pop Century and 4 7day hopper passes.
We took 1300US and came home with 300US.

Total for us was about 4400cdn :goodvibes
Just over a 1000 each ;)

Well............first of all, it doesn't take 48 hours to get there. When we drive it takes us anywhere between 19 hours and 22 hours, depending on traffic and how many stops we make..........far cry from 48 :) :)

OK so it takes you a max of 44 hrs return trip. I know I have done the drive. As you can see I was talking round trip! ;)

This trip flying out of Toronto (no car to get us to Buffalo) $1482.80 (4 people me, dd 18, friend 18, ds 13)
Package at ASSP (7 nights) with dining and 10 park hoppers and plus - $3214 cad (2873 u.s.)
7 nights at CSR $1325 cad ($1112 us - May room only discount)
Spending $1800 cad ($1500 us)

Total if we don't rent a car $7,821.80 - Yikes!:scared1:

Started out with a budget of $5,000.

I'm not sure I want to do this. :rotfl2:

We've never been but this is my breakdown so far:

Flights: $1299.00 (5 of us flying out of Syracuse)
Trip Insurance: $450.00
Gas: Not sure... we will be driving 3 hours to Syracuse the night before. I'm guessing $60.00 there and back.
Hotel in Syracuse: $149.00 one night only.
Hotel WDW: $2,078.00 CDN family Suite ASMu
Hopper Passes: $1,197.00 CDN 7 Days plus waterparks.
Food: Probably $100 day approx.
Cirque du Soleil: $453.00
Illuminations Cruise $150.00 (splitting with another family)

we're also doing the Hoop Dee Doo, Winnie the Pooh, Chef Mickey's, Primetime 50's so I'm not sure what these meals will cost. I'm guessing...ALOT. The remainder of the trip we've decided it'll be counter service. I'm travelling with a bunch of fussy eaters who don't really like sit down meals that much. Plus we will have the fridge and microwave in the room so we'll try to make do with that too.

Grand total so far is close to $7,000.00 and that's just an approximation because I've no idea what the meals will total up to per day.

We are, however, travelling with DH cousin who has paid for his own way so if I knock $1,000.00 off, it doesn't seem so bad... right? :rotfl:

Hey... this is a trip of a lifetime so it'll be well worth it. :)

Flight from Edmonton for 2 - using PC points - cost only $50 Cdn
Hotel - Cypress Pointe Grande Villas - 1 bdrm condo $80 USD/nightx16=$1280
Car - Still searching for better deal - so far about $500 is the best deal I can find
Food - I think we can do it for $50/day for the 2 of us = $800 USD
Park Tickets - have tickets from previous trip for WDW & US,
SeaWorld/Busch- $85x2 = $170 Kennedy Space Centre - $38x2= $76
Gas - $50
Parking at parks - maybe $100
Souveniers & Misc (I don't buy much for souveniers)- $174
GRAND TOTAL - $3200 USD

In addition I had to purchase Passports & photos (about $200)
Disney trips sure are expensive - considering I didn't need to buy flight or park tickets - this will still cost me about $4000 Canadian!

For me and my DH - No kids..... yet ;)
Our Trip is costing us $2800 USD thats for Resort (Poly), Dining plan, Tickets water and more (Which I am still not sure what more is-But I figure its probably good)

and I don't budget much for stuff to buy while we are there, I am the total opposite of a pack rat.. I throw things out I probably shoundn't!
Last Year I bought a christmas ordemant for our tree, and this year will probably do the same..

Than we have to drive down.. So I'm not sure how much gas will be, But we are planning to drive straight through.. Does anyone have any idea how much it costs roughly to drive from Toronto Area?? Guelph

Cost of our family of 4 going to WDW from the west coast. We saved money by using the one AP we bought for room-only discounts and World of Disney discounts, the Disney Dining card for 20% off food. We didn't hold back on too much. We dined at Ohana's, Le Cellier, CRT, Boma, and Boatwright's.

Transportation:
One-way minivan rental from Richmond, BC to Seattle - $50
Alaska Air return flight SEATAC to MCO - $1260
One-way car rental from Seattle to Richmond, BC - $50
8-day SUV rental in Orlando - $400

Hotel:
POR for 8 nights - $1024

Passes:
1 AP, 6-day passes for 1 adult, 2 children - $1300
Disney Dining Card - $50

Dining:
Averaged $150 per day - $1200

Souvenirs:
Gave each child a budget of $50 to buy anything they want - $100

APPROXIMATE GRAND TOTAL: $5434.00  but we had a GREAT time!

Well we're leaving in 10 days:cool1:

here is our breakdown:

Flight: $404 return for 3 of us from Detroit
Accomodation: $400 for 2 bedroom condo at Windsor Hills for 5 nights
Rental car: $167 for the week ..won my bid on Priceline!
Hotel in Detroit with free parking for vehicle: $69 for the night
Theme Park Tickets: Approx: $850..that is 2 days in Disney, 1 at Universal and 1 at Seaworld
Dinner with Shamu: $95..this was dd choice as she is awhale fanatic!

DD has about $30 spending money and know she asked the Easter Bunny for some American $$$ in her eggs.
My boyfriend and I will have roughly $1000.00 US between the both of us but honestly can't see us spending that much on food and souvenirs. We'll be eating breakfast at the condo and packing snacks and water for the parks. Dinner will be our main expense and I have purchased a few GC off of Restaurant.com.
All in all I think we did pretty good and got soem amazing deals.

Elm6,

You did an awsome job!! I think those are great rates!! your flight is blowing me away! We pay 1200.00 every time from Cleveland no matter what I do I cant seem to get a deal on the flight for 4 of us.

I think your car rental is good too! Ill have to check that Priceline out next time.
We paid 100-130 a day!! For a little car. We only rented it for 2 days.

The most expensive cost has been me having to buy new clothes..as I have lost some weight. Nothing from last summer fits and as for a bathing suit..oh well!! DD has outgrown most of her clothes as well. Thank goodness we have a washer and dryer at our disposal to throw a load in in the evening! I figure 2 pairs of shorts, 2 capri pants and a few t-shirts should be Ok as well as one pair of long pants! Oh well! 10 more days and that's what got me worried the most and I 'm dipping into my Florida spending money to buy these clothes.:scared1:

I can't believe I haven't already posted to this thread!

We have taken 3 trips. Each time we drive to Syracuse and fly from there. Our trips usually include 10-11 days in hotel (including the airport hotel night before and on the way back).

Each time we rent the 2bdrm condo from skyauction, most I've paid is $266 USD for the week. First trip we added one extra day at the condo for an 8 night stay. Last 2 trips we stayed 2 nights at Sheraton Safari for $59 per night through travelzoo.

2003 & 2005, cost was about $4300 CDN for 2 adults/ 2children (1 was "adult" for the 2005 trip for admission ticket purposes). 2003 this included 1 day MK, 2 days SW, 5 days US/IOA, and MVMCP. Also included food, rental car and souveniers. 2005 included 7 day MYW with plus features, and MNSSHP as well as the food, rental, souveniers. For these trips we mostly ate offsite or at the condo. 2005 we did one WDW TS meal, and had coffee and dessert in the castle (can't do that anymore so I'm glad we had the chance!)

2006 was about $3K, as we had 3 free tickets for US/IOA, and I used rewards to buy my (4) 10 day non expiring park hoppers with 6 plus features. We also had $240 in credit for JetBlue, so our flights only cost $682USD. We also shared a fireworks cruise with another Dis family. We did 3 TS meals this trip (WCC, 'Ohana, and Sci-Fi). We also ate only breakfasts and one lunch at the condo so our food budget was significantly higher than usual this trip.

We still have 5 days/ 5 plus features left on our MYW tickets, so I anticipate that the next trip will be similar in price. The good deals seem to be drying up on skyauction so I may need to spend more on accomodations than I'm used to. We have $200 in credit for next flight on JetBlue, but I have to book it before mid Oct or I will lose the credit. Don't have anything in the planning stages yet (we are buying a new home in the fall) so I may end up forfeiting the credit. That will suck, but better to lose $200 than spend $3K we can't afford!

There is plenty of shopping in Orlando! Dont forget all the outlet stores.

Our budget for our trips have varied. This last Christmas and New Years we rented a 5 bdrm villa. But usually it breaks down like this...

Flight $1200.

room
hoppers
waterpark $1938

DDP $770. (its a huge deal to us)

to and from airports in Cleveland and Orlando $200.
(now ME in Orl only)

taxis to goto store (something always comes up)
or sick of waiting for bus
at the end of the day
or to make it to a ressie
at another resort $200.

still have to buy souvinears, tips, more drinks, pay to have pics burned, if we get a room code (yes they have let us use it with a package) we might add 3 more days and stay 10. Thats at least 2 meals a day for 3 days.

If we do get the 3 extra days we rent a car for 2 days. Hit Daytona and outlet shop. Car rental $200.00

So yeah about 5,000.00+ for 2 adults DS 10 and DS 5
