How much do you pay for trash pickup?

we pay $45/3 months. This includes the rolled cart (large). They also pick up yard waste which will be composted. I have to buy special bags for that, different color and states it's yard waste. Our county contracts to have the recycling picked up. We have a large rollaway, picked up bimonthly and I think it's $10-15 for 6 months.

I would suggest asking when calling about prepayment. A friend of ours paid her bill for the full year and it cost her something like $120. I tried getting that deal but I could not, gas prices had just started shooting up at that time.

Where I live now the trash pick up is part of our HOA fees (which are $214 a qtr but cover a lot). But where we used to live they were $33 every other month for weekly trash pick-up in a tiny wheeled garbage bin. Every other week was yard waste pick-up in a large wheeled bin and recycling was weekly in a non-wheeled bin. The garbage top had to close or they would charge you $3 per bag but the recycling could be overflowing and sitting on the curb. Since I'm huge on recycling, I loved that rule and everything that could be, was recycled in our house (still is).

I was getting close to $100 a quarter for every other week p/u when gas started to spike in 2008. A few more companies started in my town and a price war started. I am back down to $69 a quarter and just got Oct-Dec for free for switching.

We are rural too. Here we just renew our sticker for our truck every year and we haul it off ourself. No fees for anything. I used to pay 56 every 3 months to have it picked up but figured why pay them when I drive past there several times a week anyway.

Pay per bag here, you have to buy the specific bags w/ the town logo on them. They're $1.50 each for a big Hefty bag size. (They also have kitchen sized ones- $1 each?) Curbside recycling of paper, glass, metal, plastic is free. The pay per bag has been definately been a big incentive for folks to recycle more! :thumbsup2

Ours is picked up as part of our town services. It kills me though, living in Massachusetts, they can't increase taxes "substantially" without a vote. Police, Fires, and school never get voted increases. Very regularly the trash pickup is pulled out of town budget, the money is put somewhere else and then there is a vote to see if taxpayers want to increase their taxes for trash pickup. It ALWAYS passes. Trash and recycling are both picked up.

About $75 every three months for biweekly unlimited trash pickup, and recycling, but no big items or yard waste. Big items cost $15.

Ours just went down a bit actually. We pay $120 biannually for weekly trash/recycling. They provide the recycling container. It is contracted and billed through the township....I wish they would just roll it into our taxes. Works out to about $20/month which is pretty reasonable.

We used to pay a bit more, but had pickup twice a week (recycling biweekly). I loved having twice a week pickup....especially so we didn't have stinky diapers and cat litter sitting around too long. I would gladly have paid a bit more to keep that service but I guess the township tried to be nice and lower our payments. But living in a development heavy township it was nice to not have trash accumulate so much. I do like now that our recycling goes weekly rather than the biweekly, so that was a plus. We actually get fined if recycling is put in the trash.

We don't pay for trash or recycling as well as we can pretty much put out anything we want (paint cans, water heaters, furniture, etc...).

I'm sure it's somehow rolled up in our taxes somewhere, but it's a pretty liberal policy on what they'll pick up. Basically if one person can tip it in the bucket on the front of the truck, they'll take it.

I'm in a suburb of Pittsburgh, but not in the actual city limits.

We don't pay specifically for garbage as it's included in the "village tax rate" so we pay it as part of our property taxes. We're allowed 1 cubic yard of garbage each week (that's really a lot!) as well as one large appliance each week (you have to call ahead so that they have 2 guys on the truck) and unlimited yard waste bags and recycle bins.

The going rate in surrounding suburbs is a little over $2.00/bag so I think that we're getting a good deal.

We pay nothing for our twice weekly trash pickup, one a week recyle pickup, and nothing for having large appliances taken - they'll take anything except paint. However, I pay $11,000 a year in property taxes.

I would love to pay your prices i pay $53 a month for weekly trash pick up and recycle picks up every other week, but that does include plowing my street when it snows (not my driveway)

Do some towns make you pay to have the street plowed?

You lern something everyday. I had no idea there were your taxes included garbage pick-up.

I pay $45 every 3 months for weekly trash-up and every other week recycling pick-up.

I used to live in a town that allowed you to take your own trash to the dump on Saturday mornings for free. I did it in the winter and my roommate took it in the summer. I couldn't make to 10 minute drive without gagging due to the smell in the summer!

Wow, I'm amazed at the high prices that some of you have to pay. :scared1:

Our service is contracted through the township, so there's only one company to deal with. The contract is renegotiated every couple of years, so the various companies bid against one another to "win" a particular area. So, our prices are very competitive.

Currently, I pay $24 every quarter (so $8 per month) for weekly curb pickup.

LOL, yes I would hope you have great town services for that amount!!

wow some of you have really great deals on trash pickup, and I was excited to be lowered to only $20 a month :rotfl:

We live in a some what rural county in NC. We do not live within the city limits. We pay $15.50 for monthly service. They do provide us a special trash can and you must use this can and you must take the can out to the end of the drive.

I have been told it is going up in 2010.

I feel lucky that we live in the city and we pay $0 of course it is included in our property tax bill so in a way we pay $1,182.41 year.

We pay $36/month for weekly pickup. I can't imagine having bi-weekly pickup. We fill that thing every week. I pay at extra $3/month for the large can on wheels from the company ... cheaper and bigger than the ones I can get at Walmart and they have locking lid so I can put it out the night before.
