we live rural and have to pay for trash removal, so the company we have been using charges $35 a month for bi-weekly pickup. I always thought that was a high price but was too lazy to shop around.

well I finally decided to shop around and the other 2 companies that service our town both charge way less. one charges $20 a month for bi weekly the other $25 for the bi weekly.
so i decided to switch to the company for $20 ( about half our neighborhood uses them the other half use the company we use)

so I call to set it up, then I call the current company to stop service and they put me thru to the "boss" and he said " If I match their price will you stay as a customer?", he then said he would guarantee the price match in writing for 2 yrs. at the $20 a month. :)
so I said sure we will stay. i was kind of shocked , I didn't expect them to do that.
thats why I didn't even ask. LOL
so it goes to show you should ask for deals when there is competition :)
this will save me $180 a year on trash pick up :thumbsup2

We live in the country too, so there are several individuals who do trash service. We pay $25/mth for weekly pickup.

We're also rural so no city trash pick-up. We pay $35 a month for weekly trash & twice-a-month recycling, and they provide a huge, wheeled dumpster. There were others a few dollars cheaper but we love the dumpster & those companies didn't provide any.

oh yes, we have the huge wheeled dumpster thing too :thumbsup2
and recycling too, we put glass and metal out one week and paper and cardboard out the next week, it alternates weekly.

We pay $18 a month for weekly pick up in a large wheeled dumpster thingie (Captain Curby is what its called)

I live in an unincorporated section of town, so I have to pay for trash removal. We do not have a bi-weekly option, our trash is picked up weekly and the bill keeps going up. Currently it is $85.88 a quarter in the past 5 years it has jumped nearly $40.

Some people in our subdivision split the trash bill with neighbors, only one pays for pick up and the other brings their trash over. We don't have that option, we have a vacant house next to us on one side and a house with 4 adults and 5 kids on the other--they need all the trash pickup they can get.

Good job OP on saving money on trash--it is the one bill we get that annoys me to pay nearly $400 a year for garbage. (Not that I am going to stop using the service).

we are semi rural, $48 for 3 months and weekly pickup.. they just added the option of recycling for an additional $5 a month every other week pickup and they have the big rolling bins for each.

We pay by the BAG ($2/bag)!!! DH and I use those big contractor bags - we can fit 3-4 kitchen bags in each. The trick is that the bag must remain under 50lbs. It's pretty shocking how much garbage 2 people can create in a week!! We've started saving our bottles for friends who recycle, composting...etc. But we still produce a ton of garbage!!! :confused3

We pay 55.00 for 3 months. We get to set out 2 cans, twice a week.

We pay $60 every 3 months. This includes recycling and trash pickup once a week. They supplied us the trash container and recycling bin.

We have trash stickers here. You pay $2.25/sticker, bought at the grocery stores. Every can needs a sticker. Luckily, we only have to put out one can a week. Recycling, however, is free :-) We recycle as much as we can!

We also pay by the bag with trash stickers. We pay $0.60/sticker. We only use one a week since we can fit two kitchen bags into the 33 gallon ones. There are only places 3 or 4 places in town that sell them though.:)

We have weekly pick up and we pay about $45 per quarter...so that's about $180 per year. That's for regular trash, yard waste weekly and hazardous/chemical waste drop off twice a year. :thumbsup2

We pay $25 a month and have weekly pick up and can put as much out as we want.

We are about 5 minutes from the recycling center so we take our own trash. It is .25/bag and we take a bag every week or 2. We also recycle bottles, plastic and cardboard for free.

A couple of our neighbors pay for weekly pickup and they told us to put anything we don't feel like taking to the dump in their cans since they rarely have a full one. We might put something in ocassionally but it's really pretty easy to bring it ourselves. The center is open 6 days a week. I'd say we spend about $8/year if that much.

We are in a gated subdivision, so we have to pay for our trash pickup. We pay $50 every other month for weekly back door pickup-2 trash cans. I guess that's a pretty good deal.:confused3

Yard waste picks up by the city every Thursday for free. Larger garbage items, like broken furniture, boxes, etc, are picked up for free on the 4th Friday of the month.

I would love to pay your prices i pay $53 a month for weekly trash pick up and recycle picks up every other week, but that does include plowing my street when it snows (not my driveway)

We live in Houston in a deed restricted community. We pay $200 per year, but that price includes our trash pickup, fees to the civic association (they patrol the neighborhood), street lighting, and maintenance on all the main streets (like mowing, signs, etc...) They pick up our trash weekly (as much as we want to put out), and we can put out big items every Friday (furniture, tree limbs if bagged or bundled, etc....). Compared to others on here, I guess what we pay is really reasonable. I would hate paying by the bag, with 6 people in our house, we go through a ton of garbage.

OP, that is great that they would match the price like that! That will save you quite a bit of money!
