I paid close to $100 at a salon and honest they did a crappola job. I asked for both my hair to be lighter and highlights. She did not dye it lighter and the highlights almost look I have gray streaks. She used what looks almost like a bleach job.

I complained. It got me no where. I will not go back. She was a terrible hair dresser!

I also wanted my hair cut a certain way... the bangs (like the first 2 layers) super short and then the rest blended.... she didn't do either like I wanted. Even AFTER asking twice.

I wish I knew of a decent place to get it done where they listen to you. For the amount of money I am really disappointed.

Rachel, I see you're in Chandler, want a referral? :)

It sounds like I get a great deal too. :yay: :yay: :yay:

Wow. Are having highlights really worth that much? I can't imagine spending $155 every five weeks (like one poster said she did) on my hair.

To each her own, of course. It just seems so foreign to me.

From my salon's site -

cut & style from $85
blow dry from $60
fringe cut from $30
updo from $130
hair extensions priced by consultation
tint from $80
partial highlight from $155
full highlight from $195
balayage from $195
perm from $130

I'd say you got a great deal.

My God! $60 and more to blow dry your hair?!

That's me. I just really like it when it's done and I really hate it when it starts to grow out. There's a lot of things I won't spend money on though. For example, I've had the same Wal-Mart $10 clearence rack purse for at least a a year.

I refuse to spend more than $15 on jeans, etc...

WTH my darn msg didn't post.

Yes I would love to know a good place in or around Chandler! I am hoping it isn't the place in the mall b/c that place should go out of business!! The professional 'salon'.

I so SO due for a haircut. I look like a poodle. It looks really bad now *sob*

I was looking at the pics from December before Christmas and it looks terrible then. I got it cut in early December.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! Now I feel much better. LOL

LibertyBelle: I have a patch of gray hair right in the front of my bangs, and another patch in the back. Incidently, both patches are in cowlicks, so they're very noticable. When I get highlights, she purposely chooses the lightest color for those areas so that when the grays do start to grow in, they are hardly noticable for quite a while. Also, the 3 or 4 colors that she blends into my hair are great because even when my hair grows out, it doesn't look funny if I don't get back to the salon for a while.

If it weren't for these hideous gray patches, I might not get highlights as often as I do, but they serve double purpose (they cover/conceal the grays, and also look nice), so I think it's worth the price :)

Had mine done yesterday. Had a foil, cut and eyebrow wax for a total of $125 (not including tip).

I get a foil of 2 colors and a cut for $105 including tip. I usually have them re-done every 6 weeks.

Where I live, with my hair (naturally curly and long) would cost me at least double what you paid. You got a good deal. :cool1:

Myst

I think you got a good deal.

I've not had foil highlights in forever, but for an all over color and a cut, I pay $55 at a salon in Carver.

Okay, Debster, which salon in Carver? I'm looking for a new hairdresser.

I get a tri colored weave and haircut for $100, $15 for my brows and a $25 tip. This is not a high end salon but my stylist is awesome. I pay $20 w/tip for just a cut. I get a cut about every 6-8 weeks and a weave every 3 months.

Yowza!!! You guys pay insane prices!! I go about every 8 weeks or so and pay about $50. We don't have "high end" salons, but it's much much more than Supercuts.

The guy who takes care of my hair has been doing it since I was old enough to have a haircut. He may cut me a deal, for all I know.

I pay $35 for cut, full color and highlights but it is my SIL and I get the 'family' rate :lmao: . She normally charges $75 for all that. She has a salon in her home. She used to work at a high end salon and since she has had kids started doing this at home.

I pay around $150 for a haircut and highlights and that does not even include the tip. I get my hair done around four times a year, and I should do it more often, but it is expensive. I know that the salon charges a reasonable rate, because other places I have gone to have charged more. I think everything is more expensive in New York.

I just came back from California and had my hair cut and highlighted by the gal that has done my hair for the last 5 years. I have just above my shoulder length naturally curly hair. It took me years to find someone who was really, and I mean really good at cutting curly hair. Most people butcher it to where there is nothing left or the shape is awful but Elaine does a fantastic job. I wish I could move her to Texas with me or afford to fly to California a few times a year just to get my hair done plus the fact that she only charges me $45 for a cut and full head highlights and then styles my bangs and the top so when I leave I look gorgeous and not like a wet poodle.

Since DD is still a poverty stricken college student, I pay for hers. It was $140. She had highlights and this time she had the hair underneath tinted a darker color as well as a cut. I don't know if it matters as far as pricing, but she does have long hair.

As for me, I do my own coloring. :teeth:

I have paid from $100.00 to over $600.00:eek: .My hair was longer past my shoulders and is thick and wavy/curly. I decided to do my own, because I haven't found anyone that knocked my socks off and is worth paying. I just had my hair cut very, very short though. The cut was $50.00 plus the tip. I'm keeping it short for a while. In fact I'm going to have it even shorter the next cut. I want to try to give my hair a break from coloring. I doubt that will last too long:rolleyes1.

For hair cut with color and high lights I pay at least $150+.
I go to a high end salon.
I've tried other, cheaper salons and I never got the cut or color I wanted.
