How much do you know about your local professional soccer team?

I’m just curious if you saw the game yesterday? And if you did, what were your thoughts? No worries if you didn’t though. :-)
Hey Buzz, thanks for asking. I did not. I don't have a TV. Can the games be found on You Tube? I admit to being drawn in by the "Big" name players and watch mostly
European league play... when I watch. I have pulled up Messi on You tube. He's something to watch!!!
I will be watching the World Cup though. My SIL is from Paraguay so we will be rooting for the SA teams.
I've been on the outs with my family so I'm hoping watching games with them will kind of bridge the gap that we have had. We've watched the World cup games through the years, and I know they can be a lot of fun!! My nephews who are now in their 20s, can still spit out stats on the players.
GOOOOOOOAAAALLLL!!!!! :cool1:

It’s also on the radio:

MLS posts highlights on YouTube, I think YouTube TV may get the channels as well.

Next year all the games will be on the Apple TV MLS app.

I’m taking a break from the Disboards until October. So if you don’t see me respond right away, that’s why. :-)

Thanks Buzz, I will check the highlights out! :thumbsup2
And you will be missed.

I can't keep track of the Sacramento Republic schedule. They keep going to various "championships" and getting eliminated and then a few weeks later they are going to another championship
3 weeks ago they lost to Orlando City and were eliminated. NOW the stories about them are them preparing for the playoffs. If they were eliminated, 3 weeks ago, how can they still be in the playoffs?

I'm sure they're participating in multiple tournaments/leagues. Younger kids in soccer will participate in probably 2-3 tournaments each season, but just over a weekend. At the professional level, those tournaments are spread out over months. So you can compete in your league(s), then whatever tournaments (ie: "championships") you'd like to apply for/be accepted.

New York is RED!
Who won the Hudson River Derby this year, the Championes Cup, and are on the verge of a second MLS Cup???…..:rolleyes1

There are different tournaments within each season. They are ranked differently in terms of importance. The US Open Cup is ranked lower than Sacramento’s USL Championship Cup playoff run (even though the US Open Cup gives all teams the chance to qualify for the CCL if they win the tournament). 90 percent of all extra tournaments in a professional soccer team’s season schedule are just a cash grab. The main focus of all soccer teams is whatever league they compete in championship cup. The playoffs your talking about would be their league’s championship cup. ESPN+ usually covers it. I hope this helps. :-)

Thanks. At the professional level, that just has been confusing.
My daughter played at the youth level, but apparently her Club did not participate in tournaments. I think some of the leagues with travel teams may have done tournaments.

Buzz will be back this weekend updating the MLS thread. 1 week on Sunday until the season ending Decision Day. Then the playoffs to MLS Cup will start and then 2 weeks later the WC will begin. Soccer in North America is about to become huge. :jumping1:

And still undefeated at home.

And I had a lesson from my DS in what the Supporters Shield is yesterday and how there’s a chance….

Safe to say the excitement is climbing around here.
Is your family excited to watch this weekend’s match on tv since Philly and LAFC are tied for the Supporters Shield at the moment?

Alas, my kids’ soccer seasons are well underway and my son has a game Saturday evening, so we’ll be catching the highlights of this weekends game.
But yes, exciting end of the season for us!

Good luck to his team. :-)
