How much do you hop?

As WDW vets headed to DLR for the 1st time we're looking forward to the ease of getting from our hotel (DLH) to the parks and especially to the short distance between DL and DCA so we got park-hoppers (which we don't always do at WDW anymore). But, how many times in a day do you go back and forth? Ex. We'd like to do EMH at DL on a Saturday, then hop to DCA to get WOC FPs then go back to DL for most of the day and see WOC at night. Is that too much?

Not too much at all! We have started at DL hopped to DCA and then back to DL for lunch then back to DCA for dinner then back to DL for F! With the parks being so close we will hop over to the the other park for just one show or attraction. We stay at DLH too so we will throw a hotel hop into the mix on many days too!

We don't hop at WDW when we go, it just takes too much time for us, however; at DLR, we'll hop 3-4 times a day. It may seem like a lot, but in the span of day it's not that much. We usually start at DL because it opens first, then hop to DCA to get some FP then maybe a couple hours at DCA before hop back and then finish the night hopping once more between DL and DCA.

I will say we are two adults in their 20's with no children and stay at the parks from open to close. We tend to look at them as one big park and go freely between them.

I agree with dsny1mom! Sounds like a good plan. We hop a lot, which is why I pay the extra money for hoppers. I love the flexibility, and sometimes we hop back and forth several times a day, especially if we're staying at GCH. It's so easy to go into DCA from the hotel and sometimes we just ride Soarin' and then head over to DL. Also, I'm not as big a fan of DCA as I am of DL and I'm not sure I want to spend a whole day there. It's fun to jump around because it kind of mixes up the magic a bit!

That's totally reasonable. We usually hop several times a day.

We also hop a lot. At least 5 times during out last one day trip:
Carsland>HM & Jack/Sally & Cafe Orleans>Aladdin>Soundsational/Flag Retreat etc.>WOC>Fant

excellent! Then we'll probably hop more. We're going for Gay Days, which will likely be really crowded. We want to participate in some official in-park events, but also plan to purposefully do some major attractions in the opposite park to avoid crowds.

I'm assuming FP machines at DCA and DL aren't connected to one another, right?

We're also two adults without kids so we get into the parks early and then stay really late.

That's correct, not connected. Plus, WOC FPs are not connected so you can get one in the morning and still have one or more for DCA.

As others have stated, very reasonable!

We park hop a lot when we're there - if DCA is feeling kinda packed we'll hop over to DL to see what's going on there. Also, if we feel like we've done enough in that park for the day we will hop over to the other to do even more activities, and maybe, after a Dole Whip, feel energized enough to hop on back!

It's also great for sending a FP runner (always me!!:thumbsup2) to hop to the other park to get a FP for Radiator Springs Racers, hop back, and then when our FP window arrives, we hop on over together!

Park hopping is also great for dining, you could spend the day in DL, and hop over for a dinner reservation at Carthay Circle, and then hop on back for Wishes.

By the end of the trip you'll feel like the Easter Bunny!!:duck:

Totally doable! When we buy hoppers we go back and forth several times per day.

When we went for a week by day two we started hopping a lot, even just to eat at CA (they loved the tamales) give the kids a line rest at the big obstacle course/climbing park and grab a brew! ;)

I've found that since Carsland has opened, we don't really hop as much. We tend to do 3 day trips and will do two different parks the first two days with maybe a hop or two on these days with more hopping the last day.

You honestly can hop as much as you want. We hop a few times some days and others, only once but I don't think we've ever had a day that we haven't hopped. It's just so convenient and we're more the type of family that just goes with the flow with no strategy so if we want to go from Toon Town to Paradise Pier, we do it :thumbsup2

As a WDW vet, our last trip to DL we only hopped on our last day. And that just once. I became so jaded at WDW. As much as I love the bus system that takes me from my resort to the parks and back, and I hated it for all the times I had to wait 30 minutes for a bus, only to have 2 or 3 ECVs load up with their families before us. Because of that, we'd always just go to a park and stay there all day - we felt the 45-60min of precious park time lost wasn't worth it. So we carried a little of that to DLR. Our next trip, we'll probably be hopping all over the place. It just so easy and costs 10 minutes max.

It is not too much. In fact, there are probably lots of guests doing the same thing. My family and I have hopped to see a parade or show or to get FPs. With just two adults, park-hopping is fast and easy. Just make sure you get your hand stamped! They check!

Like you, we never get hopper passes at WDW anymore. The couple of times we did get them and tried to use them, we spent all our time on buses, traveling back and forth. Not worth it. DL, however, is a totally different proposition. My DH and I are getting on in years, so hopping is harder for us; still, we want the option of going between the parks. Especially if one park is really crowded, or lots of our favorite rides are down.

Last Saturday, we hopped 3x (started at DCA, went to DL, back to DCA & finished the day at DL). Totally doable since it's less than a 5-minute walk between the parks.

If we're at DL, can we send a runner to DCA and pick up passes for everyone, even if everyone you're getting FP for are in DL? I've always wondered about this.

Thanks in advance.

Lori

We will hop multiple times a day, such a very short walk. Much has to do with how the crowds are. Some one can go to DCA and get fast passes as long as everyone has been scanned into a park or at least that is the way I understand things.
