Well it was a long time ago--1974. We didn't want a big wedding ceremony, so we were married in DW's parents living room with about 8 people present.
Afterwards, we went out on their back lawn for the reception with a pretty large group of people. There was lots of champagne, some very nice food, and a piano player. DW's wedding gown was made for her and I don't know how much it cost--probably a few hundred dollars. I'm going to guess it was around $2000 dollars including the small amount of flowers. :)

I voted 30 -50. We had help with some, but paid most ourselves. We had a huge blast and it was awesome.

Getting Married soon?????

;)

About $10,000 for everything, including the honeymoon.

It was 5 years ago, and we had the ceremony and reception at our church. The reception was a buffet dinner from a wonderful local Italian restaurant, and we had great DJ's for dancing afterwards. There were about 100 guests.

My gown was...OK. Back then they didn't have as many great designs for plus sized women. It was an Alfred Angelo and had trim on the bottom, which was very important to me for some reason. :confused3

The photography and videography cost a fortune, but they both turned out well. We gave out custom made CDs as favors and had a cupcake cake.

We capped the whole thing off with 10 days at WDW.

All in all, it was great, but I never want to do it again!

nah.. i wish! i am very much so at the right age! i'm like way over 30! well.. less than 4 0. i was just wondering how much the wedding cost nowadays.

Mine was less than 5K and still would be in today's dollars. You might ask people to count for inflation in your poll.

We had a simple evening wedding with a dessert reception at our church. We hired a string quartet for the music. We had about 150 guests.

Mine was approx $6000.00 back in 1991.
I really don't remember how much it was per "item".
My dress was long sleeved w/ a sweetheart neckline....and a cathedral lenght train....darn thing weighed 60+lbs!!
DJ was great!! I do know that EVERYONE was dancing ALL NIGHT!!!

I'm a photographer now, and I can tell you, weddings are outrageous!! People spend anywhere from $15K - $100K nowdays! I couldn't imagine spending that kind of money!

How long ago?
15 years.

What was something blue.. something borrowed.. and something new?
Blue were ribbons sewn on my crinoline, borrowed and old were the pearl earrings from granny, new was my necklace, dress etc.

We also put disposable cameras on each table, before they were sold in kits. I didn't have flowers on my tables, we have mirror tiles with candles and confetti and ribbon strewn around. Our bouquets were the flowers at the head table.

I think the total was over 5000 when all was said and done but I never did add it all up. I should get the shoebox out and do it on our anniversay in October!

Ours was immediate family only, 8 people total. We rented out a small tea salon in a historic inn, and had a private dinner afterwards. We flew the family in, and paid for their accommodations, so everything together was probably $5000 - $6000 (Manhattan dollars).

Was it a large wedding? Intimate? Aproximately how many attended?
Medium, I guess. We had about 160 people, I believe.
I think it was about $13,000, maybe a little less, I don't think it was more, but I'm not sure.

Had I been older and been to more weddings prior( I think I had been to 2 and one was when I was 9 LOL) I would totally have changed it. I was so young I didn't really get all I could do according to my wishes so I would have done a few things differently. Chocolate cake being one of them ;)

We had a small wedding with mostly just close friends and family. I would say we had around 50 people attend.

Was it at church, chapel, beach, backyard, ship or disney?

We had our wedding at the Chapel at College of the Ozarks (the school DH and I met at and graduated from less than 2 weeks prior to our wedding). It is a beautiful large church so we didn't even come close to filling even the first 5 pews.

1987. I'm not sure of the exact total but I'm quite sure it was under $5k.

My gown was a couple of hundred from a local shop. Flowers were around $250 total, mostly in the Church. The ceremony was at the Methodist church and the reception was at the VFW hall. We had a Minister who was offically retired but knew my husband as a child. We paid him $50 but he donated it back to the Church. His wife was our organist and she also donated her fee.

Relatives of mine provided ham and roast beef and a local restaurant catered some side dishes. Some friends of mine took care of the punch and other drinks. Mom and I went in that morning before the ceremony and set up all the tables and decorated them. A college friend of my DHs brought a bunch of stereo equipment and speakers and was our DJ. My Mom thought she was being quite hip because we were both under 21, but she bought one keg of beer and some champagne for our table. :rotfl:

I did my own make-up, my sister did my hair. My bridesmaids paid for their own dresses. The Tux place had a special where the Groom got his for free but DH didn't think it was fair so all the guys just split the total bill.

For our honeymoon we drove to Chicago and had lots of fun.

BTW this was well before the current Wedding Extravaganza boom and my wedding wasn't considered to be "odd" or "small" or "cheap." It was pretty much the way everybody in our town got married.

Almost $30k - 186 people, 7 piece band, open bar, full courses - in 1989
