how much did you spend

hello i am going to disney in june and was wondering what the average spend was while out there... there is 4 of us and 2 of then are kids aged 11 and 9 we have already paid for our disney tickets and are staying in a villa. i have aready bought 1200 dolllars in cash and have a pre paid for american express card with 1200 dollars on it and was also planning to take 1000 in pounds dose this sound ok to you lot that have been out there before as this is our first time and have no idea as what to expect?

On our first trip to Orlando there were 3 of us travelling, me, my sister & niece(9 yrs).
I took $700 in travellers chq's & 100.00 pounds. My sister took $850.00
plus 100.00 pounds. We were able to do all things we wanted to do. We paid for all our park tickets up front, and did'nt go without anything we wanted for 2wks.

I've been a few times since, and depending on what we want to do, we budget accordingly. Last year I went on a very low budget of $400 for 2wks (I was made redundant at work 3 wks before i went to orlando). Although I did'nt do any big parks - I went to seaworld, and did several of the smaller attractions. I was lucky enough to still come home with $64.00.
I ate twice day (foods very cheap), brought soveniors, boots, a coat, some candy & brownies, and still had plenty of money to buy a big tin of jelly beans .

You have more than enough money for your holiday, so just enjoy it.

Me & DF have all tickets etc sorted so just for Food/Drink & Souveniers we will be taking $3000.

This is what we had last time and it was plenty, we didnt deny ourselves anything and came back with some $$ which we used as a deposit for our next trip!

I did pay for my various hospital trips on my credit card though.

we spent $2590 last year (kept a note so I would know how much to take this year) . like you we were in a villa and had pre-paid our park tickets. there was 4 of us including our sons 15 and 20. We could have eaten out better (long story to do with the people we went with ) so this year we might spend more on nice restaurants but having said that we bought what we wanted to buy last year . the boys had some money of their own to but they ar older thans yours so again might have spent more.

This year, we pre-paid park tickets, car hire and the dining plan and spent...................£150 all week (almost entirely on stuffed animals for my DD!). We did however, stay at a Disney resort, and didn't visit the other parks.

It is a very difficult question to answer and in a way depends on how much shopping you will do.

We stay in villas too and like you have our theme park tickets sorted already.

I think you have enough personally, we used to take around $2000 but use our credit cards also, however, now we prefer to just take more $ in cash.

Last August we took $4000 when we stayed in a villa for 2 weeks, but we brought $1500 back home with us.

This August we are there for 3 weeks but are planning on taking a similar amount.

I would budget for your supermarket trips, although I guess it depends on how often you will eat out.
We normally spend a good $300 or so on groceries/toileteries etc especially when you normally have to buy things like Washing Up Liquid etc

I think that will be fine as long as you aren't planning on eating at lots of the onsite table service restaurants (which can add up in price.)

We have done it on a budget of $100 a day for 2 adults and 2 children (a bit younger than yours). This was eating mostly offsite though we did do 2 character meals in that time too

I wouldn't personally bother taking 1000 in pounds, either - it can be a pain to change them. Take what you need in dollars and TCs or leave the pounds at home to pay for the credit card bill when you return

We just took $2250 on an American Express travellers cheque card ($250 was free with the card ) and £300 worth of dollars for 3 weeks (myself, DH and DD)

We ended up putting a little on CC but that was mainly because it was my birthday whilst we were away, we hired a limo for our vow re-newal and we used the travellers chequecard to buy our Sea World tickets

I, generally, budgeted for around $100 a day which we normally managed to keep-except on the Sea World days and my birthday...........

We ate some meals in the villa / apt and had great fun

During our last trip in Feb '05 we took $3500 for a two week stay. We'd already paid for the villa and car but, as we've found out, it pays to goto Orlando with empty suitcases and come back full. We did bring some money back ... but not a lot!

We went last year for 10 nights. 2 adults 2 children aged 9 & 12. We stayed in a villa and tickets were purchased before we went.

We spent £1012.52 (yes I kept a note too ) - £580 was a mixture of dollars in cash and travellers cheques & £432.52 was spent on the Nationwide credit card.

We didn't skimp whilst we were there. We had brekkie in the villa a couple of times, take out on our 1st and last nights, a Disney character meal, had quite a few trips to the supermarkets and had snacks and couner service meals in the parks.

Although we seemed to spend a fair bit of times in the malls we didn't really do much 'proper' shopping. I think we bought the children a couple of pairs of trainers each but other than that we weren't too fussed.

Looking at what we spent - we must seem really tight lol

we pre bought all our tickets, hotel ca hire etc, I personally took $3000 just for me and dbf took $40 lol (but spent close to £2000 on his credit card) I came home with $1000, I didnt deny myself anything and shopped till I dropped,

oh and dbf spent part of his money on a model helicopter (when I say part I mean £1000) so really he only spent £1000 on other things

You can spend very little or as much as drunken sailor. The last two trips I took, on the first one, I ate at sit down restaurants and did it up in style. Obviously, I spent a little more on that trip and the year after, I ate at the food courts and only did a couple of fancier restaurants and it was a lot less.

We (DH and I) went last September for 16 nights. We spent about £1500 for the both of us, excluding our DDE and annual passes. We ate at nice restaurants many nights, but we don't eat much during the day. We don't really care for lots of shopping in Florida so if you think you will, then you'd need to allow more.

We never take travellers cheques any more. We take a couple of hundred dollars in cash, and use a CC for the rest, paying it as soon as the bill comes in. Our CC has no exchange fee. If we need more small cash, we use an ATM.

For our 3 week trip in December 2004 for 2 adults and 2 children (ages 6 and 4) we took £3000 (about $6500) pof purely spending money and we came back with almost 0.

We only ate in a sit down restaurant once (Coral Reef), we ate at counter services all other times, we ate breakfast at Ponderosa once but we bought alot of souvenirs and I collect Disney Pins and WDCC Ornaments so some was spent on that.

Next time we go back we'll take the same amount of money and won't spend so much on souvenirs but on good food and maybe more shows.

We decided to only do our souvenir shopping at the end that way we knew that whatever was left at the end was just for buying souvenirs and stuff.

Have fun, don't worry too much but just keep a daily check on what you have left and how much you've spent and that way you'll tighten the purse strings if you need to.

It really depends if you are going to hit the shops! We have budgeted about $140 a day for food (me, df, ds 7, ds 2) including 3 character meals which comes to about $1950 then we will take about $500 to spend on clothes, shoes, souvenirs etc.
