How much did you spend on your dvc membership

We’re “old-timers”. :) I don’t remember the exact price, but it was a tad under $13,000 in 1992 for 230 points (the minimum) at OKW (then known as The Disney Vacation Club). The incentive was free park passes until 2000 (except for the AK).
Same here. 🙂

$251,850 for 1,850 points. Lowest priced was BRV for $72pp in 2009 and the most expensive was VGF2 $179pp direct.
BRV - 200
CCV - 475
BWV - 200
PVB - 250
GFV - 300
RIV - 325
BLT - 100

I spent 80K two years ago for 250 direct and 200 resale, for a total of 450 points. I did all three contracts in one month. I used a short-term personal loan and will pay it off this year.

For the people who say don't take loans, I will not see a deal like we had years ago on RR points in the future. The difference in price for point now ( when I theoretically would have had the money saved) and back then is way more than the 6% interest over three years for the personal loan. Of course, the best personal loan I can get now is at a higher rate.

We bought 200 RR resort points then too. Just paid the loan off! It was a GREAT feeling!

I’m curious, how much in US$ did you spend total on initial buy in into DVC?
I paid $12,000 with closing costs and everything for my 100 Point Aulani contract. My wife and I are looking for another 50 Point Aulani contract right now. Our family needs more space so the extra 50 points will allow us to get 1 bedroom accommodations instead of studios.

Honestly, some of the best money I've ever spent was on DVC. My family loves going to Aulani every year.

I just paid 103k (including closing costs on two contracts) for 450 (250/200) points direct at BLT. We will get 9k back in the mail after closing for the 2023 points we’re not using so let’s say 94k. The cost was 225 per point with the current incentives.

I spent another 22k for another 170 BLT contract (resale this time). Puts me around 116k but I still want another 50 points.

120 Direct PVB in 2015- $22,000 ish
120 Resale AKL in 2020- $14,000 ish
100 Resale SSR in 2024- $11,000 ish
160 Resale BLT in 2025- $21,000 ish

500 points, a mix of direct and resale, for a grand total of around $68,000. 24 year old me in 2015 was terrified to tell my parents I had dropped over $20k on a Disney “timeshare” contract. Now they use our points just as much as we do 😂

Approximate; all costs included:
BCV 100: 13.5k
BLT 160: 22k
BLT 50: 7.5k

Done unless we trade something out for something else. I wouldn’t feel comfortable investing more than this in DVC personally, but I think max DVC cost number is a function based around current net worth, future income, likelihood of being able to use your DVC, and risk tolerance.

So true , for me its dues when I am retired. My initial purchase is a 2-3 year thing, but dues are forever.

I have to factor in how much I have to put aside while working so I can draw from savings to pay dues when retired. My plan is for the next 10 years is in addition to my dues to Disney I match that amount into a separate DVC investment account and then that will fund the dues in retirement. As long as dues increase less than the market index I should be good. Basically using the advice of the great philosopher Jay-Z "I won't buy it until I can buy it twice." when it comes to dues.

I am somewhere around in the mid $30,000 range. We owe 210 direct VGF, but I bought 150 and 60 at different prices, so I’d have to search for the info.

I am looking at adding another 150ish, hopefully at BLT, in the future. After the 😱 I had after seeing some of these numbers here, I think when I do add on, I will do best not to ever attempt to answer the question in this thread again. Just pay the money and never attempt to think about how much I spent altogether.
