How much did you spend on your dvc membership

We’re “old-timers”. :) I don’t remember the exact price, but it was a tad under $13,000 in 1992 for 230 points (the minimum) at OKW (then known as The Disney Vacation Club). The incentive was free park passes until 2000 (except for the AK).
About $29k in today’s money! So very similar to direct today, except those amazing free park passes.

We’ve spent just under 60k for 350 points over the last 18 months. 200 pts of Poly resale and 150 RIV direct between Feb 2023 and May 2024.

We (I) do plan to get to 500 points in the future, but I want to see how often we are booking DCL before I commit to more points. We have our first sailing coming up next May on the Wish.

Theirs is pretty easy, 2400 points at $95 per point I believe? So around 228k plus closing costs. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's what I remember them saying
I’m impressed by your points/expenses compared to mine. A lesson in the benefits of buying resale!

The one I mentioned there was the one from DonkeyHoTay. Those were all direct OKW points from last incentive.

Unless you mean my mix from earlier! Then thank you! lol

We bought a 230 point OKW resale in 1997. We paid $13,050 for it (cash) and we also had those awesome park passes through 1999.

We need @DonkeyHoTay on this thread!

Yep they were all direct OKW and my first DVC purchase. Unfortunately I bought the first 1400 points at $105 pp as a new member and the last 1000 points at $95 pp as an existing member (for like 1 week) - all in around $250K. Even so I'm still signing CFW contracts, waiting for new Poly Tower sales and watching BCV resale postings. Addon-itis is real.

I can't tell if everyone is in way better or way worse financial shape than I am with this big contract purchases! 🤣 Very jealous. I told DH if we ever came into money that we are most certainly getting more points, to either Copper Creek or Boardwalk.

For those with 1000+ points: do you find you use them all? Do you rent at cost to extended family? Or do you end up renting out through a 3rd party?

96k for 1262 points spread between AKV, AUL, BRV, BCV and RIV (all resale).

So you got points for an average of $76 per point?? 🤔

This is 100% not the total buy-in for 1,262 pts at these resorts. I'd wager it's closer to $130,000-140,000. But I believe FrancisK7 is counting his total buy-in cost after taking into account points he's going to rent out.

Using so far, but we just started lol. Will stay in more 1 BRs by ourselves to try out other resorts and do 2br when family wants to come. Some years if family don't want to go with us we may rent out half the points to make the other half "free" stays for us lol

I'm curious what people spend on dues each year. lol

Does anyone use the DVC Toolkit? It calculates for you. ;)

Our first contract at VGC in March 2023 and it was around $39,000 or $40,000. I'm too lazy to go look for what it was exactly. But it was 160 points for $235 a point, plus closing costs.

Since then, we've also purchased two BRV contracts (50 points and 150 points) which set us back around $20k, I believe.
